David has a wonderful ability to help guide your ear through the music, letting you explore and really appreciate what you're working on. Though he did place a lot of focus on physical technique, he always made it clear that honing this control was ultimately for the purpose of letting yourself be free and expressive.
He also always stressed the importance of good posture, form and body awareness at the keyboard, which is a quality I've found lacking in other teachers. I'll always carry with me David's great lessons on how to practice correctly and efficiently - breaking down passages, gradually building it back up, and making sure not to create bad habits!
As for his personality, David is an incredibly sweet, honest and caring person. Though he was always very kind, he was also not afraid to speak his mind and be upfront about anything he was concerned with - and remembering back to my angsty middle school days, he did an incredible job balancing love and tough love, voicing any concerns but always respecting me and my choices."

I am a composer/band leader and I also have many side man credits with some world renowned musicians on my resume. My CD "hypnotic" made the semi final round for 09-10 Grammys for best jazz instrumental CD. I also have 2CD's on the steeplechase label.
I believe that these experiences make me a teacher that can communicate with my students through my hands on knowledge and understanding of all aspects of music. Oh.... almost forgot.... I love teaching just as much as I love playing, because it gives me a chance to effect peoples peoples lives in a positive way.

I was having trouble finding a teacher by word-of-mouth - prospective teachers would not return phone calls and seems to have little interest in my son's musical education. Ever since Take Lessons contacted Lesley-Ann on my behalf, we have been in consistent contact. She has followed through on her promises, presented an appropriate enthusiasm for the job, and seems to have really inspired my teenage son to want to play the piano, and view this as a great opportunity. I look forward to working with her on his development, and I encourage other prospective students to employ her as a guide on their musical journey.

As a classical trumpet player, I understand the demands of becoming a soloist or orchestral member through learning the necessary repertoire and technique. As a jazz trumpet player, I am able to teach ear training, how to create lines and understand harmony, as well as the physical demands of range and articulation.
I am also able to teach piano, I have 4 years of classical piano experience. In addition to my personal studies and teaching experiences. I have taught piano to a range of age groups as well (5-25). Based on skill level, I use certain method books to include scales, chords, reading music, rhythm, and basic musicianship skills.
It would be wonderful to have you as my student, to train, work, and grow together as great musicians!
