I focus on technical singing, initially, to really establish a solid foundation for musicality and health longevity, then as progression is made, I put emphasis on performance methods. L'Marco is providing my 8 year old son more than what I thought. He's teaching the things that go along with singing and the words and definition as well as having exams so he will really know what they mean. Diction, posture, diaghragm,larynax, glissando (?). He's teaching him pitch, performance and stage presence. Because of L'Marco and his wonderful teachings my son has song the lead to a song in church which he was very afraid before. Now he has many request to lead solos and perform at 2 separate banquets this year (2014). Several of my friends want to utilize L;Marco for their children... NO NO he's all mine. lol

I've been studying under L'Marco Smith for almost a year and can say not only has my singing ability improved but my confidence in myself and my voice as well. Not only does he focus on technique but is passionate about instilling the idea that music is all about the intention and message you want to leave your audience. I tend to put stress and pressure on myself being such a serious artist constantly looking for perfection but L'Marco has been there time after time reminding me with his enthusiasm, humor and supportive outlook to enjoy the journey. My name is Noel B., and I am a musician living and working in New York City.
When teaching a new student I employ many different methods. To me, music is about playing with people. Its important to be able to play by yourself but there are things you just can't learn unless you play with people. I liken it to taking soccer lessons but never playing on a team. Also, its important to perform. All of my students are invited to perform at a venue with a grand piano that professional musicians in the city play. This really helps the students and I set goals, and achieve them. I also use some method books, theory and other things, but just making it about playing makes the lessons much much more fun and inspiring for the students.

I hope to inspire others to pursue a musical life. No matter how serious and long, or short and light.

Noel has an extremely diverse background in much that goes well beyond the guitar - He's an awesome drummer as well. This made the lessons even more interesting since he could offer perspective from the drummer's point of view, stressing how important rhythm is to becoming a solid guitarist.
On top of everything else, one of the things I like the most about taking lessons with Noel is that sitting down with him is like sitting in on a jam session - a pretty cool feeling for someone who's somewhat new to music, but has always wanted to learn.

My teacher is amazing. A master professional in his musical field. He teaches like he's done it for decades, even though so young. I would dare to say he can teach with his eyes close. I love all his teaching techniques, from theory to scale, to practicing the Hanon Studies, to ear training and on. I like how he plays along with me while teaching me a new musical score. He completely dedicated to teaching his student and making sure his pupil is satisfied with his performance. He'll even help you with preparing you for an recital or musical event. He knows how. I highly recommend for teaching any pupil from age 3 to 92. He'll ask me what I want to do next, and then we look for scores that I can learn according to my level.. He's attention to your needs as a student and works around it. I always look forward to going to my next lesson and see how I improved and what's new score he's prepare for me to learn.

I came to the United States to pursue my academic career in music and graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2007, majoring in Professional Music. My coursework included Music Theory, Music Technology, and Music Business as well as other related professional music courses. My practical experience included private lessons with internationally renowned drummers such as Dave Dicenso, Kenwood Denard, and Mike Mangini. Additionally, my hands-on classes included Rudimental Labs, Drum Labs, Fusion Labs, Studio Drumming Lab, Contemporary Applications for Percussion, and Afro-Cuban Drumming. In general, and depending on the student requirements, I teach drum rudiments, music notation, a range of styles, drum tuning and setup. As part of my method, I divide my class/lesson into four sections, which begins with warm ups and proceed with drum rudiments and coordination. I devote the second portion of the lesson to reading and playing orchestral snare drum pieces, and in the third section, students practice different types of rhythms. In these lessons, as well as in private classes, I use drum-method books such as Joel Rothman's Mini-Monster Book of Rock Drumming by Joel Rothman (Fort Lauderdale, Fla: J.R. Publications, 1981), Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer by Jim Chapin (New York: Jim Chapin, 1971), Ted Reed’s Progressive steps to syncopation for the modern drummer (Van Nuys, California: Alfred, 1996), as well as many music charts. In the last portion of the session, I engage students in an open discussion about their progress, improvements and goals.

I teach students separately and collectively. During my lessons, I teach drum rudiments, how to read drums’ musical notation, various rhythm styles such as rock, funk, shuffle, and drum tuning and setup. When I was a teenager, I was the youngest person to study at Victor Wooten's first bass/nature camp in 2000, a week long master class with some of the world's most decorated musicians in Montgomery Bell State Park outside of Nashville. I moved to New York to get a degree in Theater as a singer and actor in 2004. Since then I've been fortunate enough to work in NY orchestras, cabarets, theater and national TV, tour the world with a variety of musical artists, work as a studio musician recording albums for songwriters, and develop musical education programs. Most recently I curated and taught the bass guitar curriculum for Yousician, a Helsinki-based music app with 25 million users in 154 countries worldwide. That has been an invaluable experience, working alongside educators and programmers in one of the world's leading countries in both education and technology.
Music has been a life-directing guide for me; from the wonder of discovery to the mastery of new and exciting techniques, music has always been a sort of way for us to communicate intimately, yet on a universal scale. To pass the same experience on to others is such a gift, and one I value greatly.

I graduated from the Music Academy International (Nancy) in voice and from Berklee College of Music (Boston) in harp where I performed in many different settings and styles of music (Jazz, Pop, Mediterranean music, Middle Eastern music, Latin music,...). I was also part of "The Voice" France in 2012 where I made it to the top 20. Additionally, I traveled a lot and performed in many different festivals around the world where I also gave master classes about the Harp Jazz & Modern Harp.

With beginners, we will start, of course, by learning the foundation of the technique as well as developing the ear and the rhythm. We will start learning different styles of music using excellent and very fun exercices and tunes.
With more advanced harpists, we will be able to explore different styles of music more deeply, develop the rhythm on the harp, improvise, learn different jazz standards, try arrangements of known pieces (you can request anything you like), and even include singing if you wish :)
