As the award winning pianist with doctorate in piano performance, I have performed at several different nations in the world and taught at Piano Academy and a few universities over 25 years teaching from the beginners to doctorate/professional pianists. With many years of experience as a performer and piano educator, my piano lessons are customized and catered to each student's learning style and goals for the most optimal learning experience. While they will LOVE to play the piano music, they will also be building a great foundation of piano technique, music theory and performances. I teach classical music, traditional/contemporary worship songs with improvisation and accompanying. Through my years of teaching, my students have won many competitions and earned highest scores at the state piano exams and pursued music as their profession. I look forward to working with you to create the MOST BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!

Deborah is such an excellent teacher. I've been taking lessons with Deborah for a little over 4 months now and I'm impressed with my progress. We're going at my own pace because I don't have a whole lot of time to practice due to work and other obligations, and she is understanding, incredibly patient, and encouraging.

In the lessons, she's not only teaching me theory and classical piano (my choice), but she's teaching me the joy of playing music and how to play from the soul. Our lessons and my practice never feel tedious. Often, she'll play a song for me so I can hear the melody for a piece I'm going to learn. Whenever she plays, you can see the passion and joy she has for music and piano.

She is a professional, very skilled at both piano and teaching and I'm thankful to be taking lessons with her. Whether you are taking lessons for fun or for professional reasons, Deborah is the right pick.

Deborah is a great teacher! She is good at working with you at your own pace while also challenging you at an appropriate level. I have been progressing much, much faster than when I was just working through books and doing self-study.

I played music professionally for many years, both solo and in a variety of bands. I did not enjoy performing. I am a songwriter and my studio is where I feel most comfortable. I teach finger-style acoustic guitar as my default but enjoy other styles as well. Regardless of style, it will always be combined with a strong understanding of music theory and guitar basics. It doesn't matter If you are interested in more advanced topics (i.e. songwriting, recording, etc.) or are a complete beginner. I am happy to work with all levels. Let's get started. You can do this!

About Chuck

I've been writing and recording music my whole life. Aside from motorcycle riding, it's my true love.

I feel what makes taking lessons with me unique is my experience teaching private violin and viola lessons in Texas public schools (grades 6-12) and my career as a professional musician. Through the lens of that experience, I know how crucial an education that includes Classical music can be in a young student’s overall academic development and maturation. Not everyone pursues music as a career, however, no matter the student’s skill level, age, or degree of commitment, I wish to ultimately be a positive support system for a student’s development in their desirability to make music.

When Should You Replace Your Drum Heads?

A big part of drum set maintenance is knowing when to replace your drum heads. But when is the right time to do so? Of course, the right time will depend on how often you play - and also how hard you play. It can also depend on the sound you're going for, but a good rule of thumb is to switch out their drum heads when they start losing their original tone - they may sound dull, flat or worn. Other factors are if you notice dents (likely to happen if you're still using the stock heads), if you …
