Carolyn is an incredible teacher and a fantastic role model. Her encouragement, patience, skill and attention to detail has resulted in my daughter having learned (and continuing to learn) more than we could have ever imagined musically (voice/piano), and about performing on stage. Being Carolyn's student has also resulted in our daughter having more self confidence and higher self esteem. Carolyn brings out the best in her students and the dedication that she has for them is unparalleled. It has been a joy to watch our daughter grow as a musician under Carolyn's instruction.

Today what's the first lesson for my two girls with Carolyn. All I can say but the lesson was absolutely amazing my girls came out extremely inspired with lots of exciting homework to do they couldn't wait to show me what they've learned and couldn't wait to start practicing Carolyn was everything we were hoping for and a lot more. I have no doubts that would have made the best choice who could possibly make. My girls can't wait for their next lesson.πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Saxophone playing has been a part of my life from as early as remember. My father was a jazz saxophonist and this inadvertently led me toward a similar path. I have been playing professionally since the age of 18 and play gigs every week in the set coast area. I have studied with some of the best saxophone teachers on the planet at Berklee, and constantly draw on information they passed along to me when expressing my style of teaching. I think people automatically assume that if you play saxophone you must play jazz, but I feel that there are so many stylistic opportunities with this flexible instrument. i've managed to play on gigs of all genres with what I know and the approach I take to playing. In my lessons I like to focus on fundamentals but then on how such fundamentals can be applied to different playing situations. From the beginner to Immediate player I really try to focus on sound quality and production, finger technique, time, articulation, theory and building a ...

I am writing in support of Mark Levenson. I have known Mark for over ten years. In this time I have been lucky to work with him on several projects. Mark is a very fine musician and a great person. 'For the past several years he has been Principal Alto and Saxophone Section Leader for the Sarasota Concert Band. This is a semi-professional Symphonic Band that I conduct. His playing is at an artist level and his commitment to the ensemble is exceptional. When needed to help out, Mark will gladly switch to play soprano, tenor or baritone saxophone for the good of the group. And he plays these equally well. Also, about once a year, Mark would take the baton and guest conduct with great ease and artistry. Mark also worked for the Board of Directors of the SCB. In this capacity he was very helpful in many aspects of keeping the band running smoothly. Raising money, suggesting music, publicity, concert and rehearsal logistics and more are all elements Mark was always willing to help with. His previous experience as a high school band director makes him able to understand and have expertise in all areas of band affairs. He is always willing to help with a positive attitude. His experience in Human Resources also helped in matters of personnel and logistics.

Another way I have been involved with Mark is through his teaching. The SCB has a commitment to fostering music education in our area. Mark has served as a teacher and mentor to many high school band students in our area. We run an Honor Band, a Summer Music Camp and regular playing opportunities for middle and high school students. Mark's hard work and high level of knowledge has always helped our groups..

Mark is also a very fine musical instrument repairman. He does a great job repairing both woodwind and brass instruments. For the past decade or so he has been my main repairman for my clarinets and saxophones that I play professionally.

When Mark and his family decided to leave our area, it was a big loss for us. Besides myself, many other music teachers, performers and students miss the influence of Mark. I know that Mark will continue his high standards and exceptional commitment where ever he is. Our loss is your gain. I enthusiastically recommend Mark Levenson to you.
Russell
Mark is a very clear and learned instrumentalist, my instrument of choice is the Saxophone. His approach is very relaxing and direct, Mark is very complimentary towards the things I did correctly which is a real plus for a student like myself.

I know his knowledge base is deep and look forward to actually picking up something new and redirecting bad habits. Tone, Breathing, relaxing, improving the embouchure enjoy what your doing was his focus on the first visit. 1st lesson five stars...

This was my daughter's first singing lesson. Melody was very accommodating with my wife and I observing our daughter. With a musical background myself, I immediately knew that Melody had immense knowledge not only about singing, but also the theory and technique that all singers should learn.

My daughter is now 16 years old and has been under Ms. Melody's tutelage for a year now. There are good times and bad, and I am thankful that Ms. Melody did not give up. My daughter will encounter lots of hardships throughout her life, and as a mother, I cannot do all the teachings myself. It is always good to know when you have a caring teacher whom you can trust and know what they are doing both in music and life. I like that Ms. Melody can be lenient, and firm when needed. My daughter has joined her recitals, music playdates, and couldn't be happier. I can't recommend Ms. Melody high enough.
Micala S.
My daughters, 8 and 6, took lessons as beginners from Melody for 10 months before we had to move. SHE IS AMAZING! Not only did she make the lessons fun and engaging, but they learned so much in that short time. I grew up playing piano, violin and French horn and I was very impressed with her approach/methodology and how much of herself she put into her teaching. For the last 3 months we were with Melody, the girls also took voice lessons. The highlight of our spring was watching the girls perform at the recital Melody had so painstakingly organized. It was astounding how much they had progressed musically and my husband and I were in awe at how well they performed in front of people. We were also impressed at the wide range of experience in the students Melody taught. Some had played for years and were clearly continuing to blossom under Melody's tutelage, while others were beginners like our daughters. Melody was always positive, encouraging and extremely patient (even when my six year old had clearly not practiced for a week straight or was tired and whiny). My daughters and I miss her dearly as our mentor and now our friend! We cannot recommend her highly enough.

"We selected Brad Allen because he was using Faber&Faber's Piano Adventures. Since then, my three children have not only excelled in their skills, but they have grown more and more to enjoy playing. Brad is fun and personable and he gives his students the freedom to play the things which will interest them. The amount of practice homework he gives is manageable but still enough to increase their skills. As a parent, I appreciate his flexibility when our schedule gets complicated. I fully trust Brad Allen with the time he spends with my children."

"Life changing. That’s how I would describe my lessons with Randy. I went to him just to improve my piano skills. He had so much more in store for me. He doesn’t just want you to learn a skill, he wants to truly develop your artistry and relationship with music. He is an angel. In my short time with him he has helped me to heal my performance anxiety, my resistance to write my own music, drastically improved my relationship with music, helped me to figure out more of who I am, and so so so so so much more. He truly cares about your growth as an artist and a person. I can not recommend him enough and wish everyone could experience his incredible lessons. ‘Thank you’ will never be enough for what he has done for me."

6 Awesome, Unexpected Cover Songs You Need to Hear

Singers, why limit yourself to one genre? Many artists have produced amazing cover songs to put their own spin on tunes, even those not in their particular genre. Here, St. Augustine, FL voice teacher Heather L. shares six covers worth a listen...   How amazingly awesome is it to hear a song re-sung by a singer in a way that's totally unlike the original version? The correct answer? Really amazingly awesome! Sometimes it can change the way we hear the lyrics completely, sometimes it'll m …
