I'm a specialist in Brazilian Guitar and have played and used American Folk Styles to teach finger picking for many years. This includes Travis Picking, Blues and arrangement of all sorts of melodies for guitar. One of the first world musics I played was Irish music and I have a nice repertoire of these melodies to help the student learn how to play a linear melody. Reading is not necessary but I'm expert at getting people to read by using simple familiar music. I have been playing Jazz acoustically fingerstyle for a while and have been a good understanding of Swing guitar styles too. Repertoire and recordings are essential in the process. This I also provide to the student

Great! Loved it! A high-level teacher, extremely knowledgeable and accomplished. This will certainly challenge me as a beginner.

I was a beginner wanting to learn some Brazilian guitar: samba, bossa nova, etc. Billy was great for that as a very accomplished guitarist of that genre. He is very engaging and enthusiastic. He was patient with me in working on the difficult chords and strumming that this type of music requires. Having literally, "written the book", he had an organized approach. I also enjoyed his humor and occasional stories about guitarist he has know. Acho que ele tem Jeito para ensinar violao.

My goal as a teacher is to give you the facility to express yourself through music. The key parts to developing this facility are:

1. theory -- notice i say theory, not rules. learning music theory is not about learning rigid rules that will stifle your creativity. when you learn theory, you learn to identify patterns and give them names so you can remember and reuse them. the more you know your theory, the more ways you know to express your ideas
2. technique -- the last thing you want is for your technique to hinder your ability to express your idea. Having good technique lets your ideas flow naturally. and really, why would you not want to be the best you can be?

When you take lessons with me, you get out of it what you put in. Your job as student is to be honest with what you expect to achieve and my job as teacher is to give you the tools to achieve it

About David

I have been playing music almost my entire life. I first started on trombone in 4th grade then switched to guitar in 6th. I picked up the electric bass in my later teenage years and learned the upright bass (both jazz and classical) in college. My students get the benefit of my education, as well

I have taught guitar since 2012 and have been playing since 2000. I am happy to take students at the beginner and intermediate levels. I believe strongly in integrating music theory and ultimately moving students toward musical self-suffiency, rather than focusing exclusively on learning particular pieces.

About Ben

Hi, I'm a lifelong musician and educator with 20+ years of experience writing, recording, performing and improvising across multiple instruments and genres. Keith is a very good teacher! Very thorough, patient, kind, and flexible. I've learned more from him than I have from trying to learn online or on my own. He develops and introduces concepts gradually, and in no time, you're playing like a pro! I always look forward to my lessons!
Julie S.
I've been casually playing guitar for a few years and came to Keith to improve my technique and become an overall better player. He called me before my first lesson to make sure he understood my goals as a player, and tailors my lessons to match them.

Keith has been great in helping me significantly improve my playing in a short period of time, and makes me excited to continue learning!

"I have no idea what I'm getting into when I first register for the class. Mrs. Hanaa was one of the instructor that have great reviews and a good price rate. Everyone who have reviewed her probably mention how closely she work with her student and how she allow them to learn in their own pace. I totally agree and she also provide a great atmosphere that allow the student excited to learn. If other review does not convince you to choose her, I hope this one will."

Greg made valuable acoustic guitar and vocal lessons enjoyable and rewarding. I’ve seen him build up teams of inexperienced people to become well rounded and proficient musicians. Top instructor recommendation for pursing a musical passion.
