My primary goal with all of my students is to help them make great music that is true to themselves. I also try to stick with a sound-before-symbol approach to learning music. What this means for my teaching is a focus on training both the ears and technique. I always prefer a more personalized approach to teaching, working with students to find repertoire that speaks to them and improves their musicality and technique.

About Isaac
My Values
As I’ve developed my teaching style over the last ten years, I’ve found myself zeroing in on a few key qualities I want to cultivate in my students and in my self including great ears, a high proficiency on the instrument, and a strong and interactive sense of musicality. At the center of my practice is a devotion to personal growth and discovery. For myself, I find this by teaching in a variety of contexts from teaching in classrooms at a private school to sharing volunteer masterclasses around the world. No matter the context it is my goal to share with my students and those who will listen the lessons I have learned through music and to help them uncover their own. As such I am constantly striving to inspire personal connections to the music and a stronger sense of community

My experience
I have consistently taught priva
te lessons to bass players, pianists, and other instrumentalists since 2010. I have also had the opportunity to teach over a dozen jazz clinics, including two separate visits to the annual Panama Jazz Festival to teach and perform. At Berklee I studied music pedagogy and continue to research pedagogy on my own time. Recently through a teacher training program I have participated in workshops learning the basics of Suzuki, Kodály, and Orff Shulwerk methods. I currently teach music classes part time at a Manhattan private school and part time in an El Sistema based after school strings program.

My students have gone on to win statewide competitions such as positions in the All State jazz band and orchestra. Some have participated in music festivals around the country such as the Newport Jazz Festival and others have continued on to study at the collegiate level at schools including McGill University and Northwestern University.

Isaac is an excellent teacher and is highly recommended. His method is not centered on drills, music reading or repetition, but rather on getting an understanding of how the notes, chords work together. In so doing, the student gets a great understanding of theory and it opens the door to improvisation. In addition he's very patient with folks such as myself who don't come to class with a deep understanding of music theory.

About Fabrizio
I have been playing bass for 13 years. In Italy I studied under Claudio Cusmano and Maestro Nello Nicotra. In 2011, I moved from Italy to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Performance (Jazz Bass). I graduated with Magna Cum Laude in May 2015.
There I've had the honor to be mentored and taught by some of the best teachers and players: Victor Bailey, John Patitucci, Dave Santoro, Darren Barrett, Kenny Washington, Eddie Gomez, Ben Wolfe, Marco Panascia, just to name few.
After that, I moved to New York where I got accepted in the Master's Program of Jazz Bass at Manhattan School of Music and graduated in 2016 with a GPA of 3.85.
Currently I'm taking lesson from the legendary bassist Ron Carter.

I hope to have students who love music as much as I do, and those who want to put effort in
it. Looking forward to helping you reach your goals!

I really enjoy to transfer my knowledge and solve the unique musical problem that every student encounter during their musical path.

As a current faculty member of the New York Jazz Workshop, Andrea is a dedicated educator.
