I have been teaching upright Bass for 5 years and playing for 10 years. I will help you develop a good sound, whether playing arco (bowed) or Pizzicato (plucked). I can teach you how to build your own bass lines, to lock in with a drummer, and even how to solo.
Kiselbach began his life as a musician at 12 on the electric bass in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada. Eventually his interests turned to Jazz and at 16 he began playing the Double Bass. As a student in Canada, Kiselbach earned numerous awards and honors, including the best bassist award at the Envision Jazz Festival in Surrey, BC, Canada.
In 2008 Kiselbach won a scholarship to study Jazz bass with Lynn Seaton
Proficient at both electric and upright, Kiselbach has performed in North America, Australia, Europe and Africa.
Currently Kiselbach is studying at the Aaron Copland School of Music under the mentorship of David Berkman, Antonio Hart, and Michael Mossman and regularily performs in New York City.

As long as you're tall enough, I can teach you the upright bass. Classical, Jazz, Singer-Songwriter - You're in good hands learning any style.
We'll start by focusing on building up your fundamentals - Intonation, bow technique, sound - then build your musical vocabulary - Scale studies, etudes, creating bass lines, reading chord charts.
I like to use the Simandl book for my beginner and strictly classical students, and Rufus Reid's "The Evolving Bassist" for my jazzers. But I won't religiously stick to one book if I find it's holding back a student's development or not keeping their interest.
I may be young myself - but I've learned from the best, and love to share that knowledge to help you achieve your musical goals.
My name is Nick, and I am here to help you achieve your musical goals.
Want to walk some tasty jazz bass lines? Great. Want to learn more songs on your guitar, upload them and get youtube famous? Sounds awesome. Want to identify intervals, chords and progressions on the fly? I'm your guy!
I'm fluent in jazz, rock, funk, pop, and classical styles (for proof, please visit my website or facebook page) - I can teach students of all ages and levels on electric bass, upright bass, and guitar (as long as you have a passion and willingness to learn!)
Should you choose to take

Nick was extremely helpful and patient, and after only a few lessons he helped me find the talent I had forgotten about. He coached me through everything from classical to heavy metal, and even taught me how to do an awesome power slide!
Now I really feel like a rock god again! Thanks Nick!

But here I am, 6 months later, and I'm already playing with a jazz band at my school. Nick made the whole experience way less daunting than I ever could've imagined, and now not only am I musician, but I'm a rare commodity! I'm not just another guitarist or drummer lost in a sea of fellows.
Thanks so much Nick! Rock on man!

As a teacher, I teach students based on their experience, their goals, and their interests. I begin by asking what kind of music and bass playing they are most interested and go from there. I supply exercises, videos, helpful worksheets, practice journals, sheet music, and more. I love to focus on teaching students songs they love, in a helpful and successful way. I also love sharing music with students and discussing music with them. Finally, I love working on songwriting, theory, and harmony. Thanks!
