While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. My students, beginner intermediate and advanced levels, have been awarded for their performances and activities in schools and competitions.
I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.

Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

The thing that makes me different from most voice teachers is that I approach everything from an acting stand point.

I believe singing is an extension of the voice when speaking is not enough. The student will explore the breathing process, impulse and intention, and a work out for the body (including some simple Yoga, Pilates, and voice and speech work).

I also believe in text, melodic, and accompaniment interpretation. By the time you are done with a song you will understand every secret of it so that you can act the heck out of it.

All this is to make the process of singing as alive, natural, and easy as possible.

I will also teach you warm-up exercises that are go while you are waiting to go into an audition.

I have an extensive library of musical theatre to build your book for any occasion or style you may need.

So come on over and look at music and your voice in a whole new light.
*** Specialties ***

Ashleigh is such a wonderful person to work with! She is incredibly thorough and helped me find material that really resonates with me. Her warmth and sense of humor create a fun and welcoming lesson environment! She focuses on telling the story which is so important to me as an “actor who sings”. I couldn’t recommend her enough!

I started taking lessons with Ashleigh after a 2 year period of not singing due to bowed vocal chords. In the short period I’ve worked with her I feel like I’m regaining the voice I was once had and then some. She’s extremely knowledgeable and patient. I’d recommend her to anyone.

Ever dreamt of being on Broadway? Ever wanted to study with a Broadway star? Want to work on your technique? Have an audition (or College audition) coming up? Do you just love singing and want to do more of it?

Rachel is a Broadway veteran who teaches all ages and voice types. Rachel teaches different styles, including both classical and contemporary in both singing and acting. Whether it's Shakespeare, Opera, Musical Theatre, or anything in between!

Credits include: Christine on Broadway in Phantom of the Opera, Scarlett (original cast) on the international tour of Gone With The Wind, Ariel in The Little Mermaid, BFA MT from University of Michigan.

About Rachel
Take lessons with a Broadway veteran!

I've been teaching private voice and acting coaching for over 5 years and LOVE seeing my students improve! I am a working singer/actor, and writer/musician in NYC, but I love teaching so much that I do it even while I'm working on projects!

A little bit about me:
I graduated from University of Michigan's musical theatre program (one of the top musical theatre programs in the world!) and went straight into playing Ariel in THE LITTLE MERMAID at Chicago Shakespeare theatre, and then directly on to playing the lead in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Broadway for several years! I also recently returned from China, where I played Scarlett O'Hara in the musical version of GONE WITH THE WIND!

I've trained in all kinds of different techniques and currently have all different types of students and voices in my s
tudio! I teach all levels and ages, from beginners to professionals, and a wide variety of different of styles (Broadway, opera, pop, singer-songwriter, and many more). Together, we'll find the right techniques for your voice, and the concepts that click for you and make your voice soar! Now, any voice teacher worth their salt will be able to work on your technique with you, BUT in MY studio, we will go farther than that! Not only will your technique improve rapidly, but we will work on telling the story, and performing the song. Two major components that often get forgotten! And most importantly, we'll have fun while doing it!

Whether you're looking to push your audition technique over the top and BOOK that role, or NAIL that college audition, or if you're just looking to have some fun while singing, together we can make it happen!

My daughter dreams of being a professional actor/singer, and Rachel is both the best teacher and role model we could hope for! Rachel helps her with her vocal technique, helps her choose songs that are age appropriate but that enable her to expand her repertoire, and I am absolutely amazed at how much she has learned about acting and character/script analysis. My daughter eagerly does her "Rachel homework" each week :) Rachel also gives her great advice about auditioning, college, and the industry in general. She is truly a wealth of knowledge and talent! We were fortunate to see Rachel perform as Christine Daae in a performance of Phantom of the Opera (my daughter's favorite musical and dream role), and we were absolutely floored by her performance! We are so grateful that our daughter has the opportunity to train with an incredibly talented, enthusiastic artist and teacher. Thank you, Rachel!

Literally couldn’t ask for a better instructor. Honestly, she has been so patient with me since I have anxiety and I’m pretty shy in front of others. She has been nothing but supportive and I really can’t thank her enough for anything.

Rachel is a wonderful teacher! My daughter loves her lessons with Rachel! Rachel is very insightful and observant. She also has a wealth of knowledge on singing and musical theater. My daughter is very serious about having a career in musical theater someday and she really appreciates how compassionate and dedicated Rachel is to making her a better singer. After many talks with my daughter, I can tell you Rachel has a great sense of humor, great knowledge, wisdom, industry insight and she is very caring. You could not find a better teacher! My daughter plans to keep taking lessons from Rachel for a long time. Don't walk, RUN to get your lessons with her! She is that awesome!

Hello! I am an actor, singer, and teacher in NYC. I was an adjunct faculty at NYU Steinhardt Vocal Performance program 2017-2019. At NYU, I taught private voice lessons to NYU students for 2 years, from beginner to advanced singers. My goal is to find your "authentic" voice so that you can sing in a healthy and sustainable way across the genres. (classical, music theater, pop/rock, R&B/soul, country, etc.) I have developed a style of teaching that is efficient and flexible. I will cater my lessons to your needs!

I also studied voice science (vocology) through the NYU Voice Center under the SLPs and Laryngologists, so I understand how the vocal system works. I will provide explanations that make sense using anatomy and physiology!

My teaching style is “taller-made” for each student and his/her development. Since singing is a combination of technique and expression, and is very physical and emotional, I aim to help each of my students gain that balance of emotionality with technique!

My teaching style is “taller-made” for each student and his/her development. Since singing is a combinat
ion of technique and expression, and is very physical and emotional, I aim to help each of my students gain that balance of emotionality with technique. In my lessons, I specifically focus on:

*Unlocking voice and least amount of work to release “air flow”
*Basic fundamentals (breath energy, resonance, and vault/space)
*Physicality and acoustics (source, filter, balance, alignment, efficient placement)
*Musicianship (accuracy, phrasing, reading scores)
*Increase the range
*Provide a toolbox to adjust their instrument
*Making the voice flexible to let dimensions and colors come out
*Truthful communication as a storyteller
*Joy of singing!

I am passionate about teaching and sharing what I have learned as an actor and singer. I want to let you make a new discovery about your voice and open up the world of possibility for the voice. Singing is an incredible way to grow confidence and positive even if it's merely a hobby or extra curricular activity!
