I teach note reading, technique, theory, composition and performance.

About Edward
My name is Edward and I have been playing music most of my life. I was involved in every form of music education that I could find, and took private lessons on guitar and piano for ten years. During this time, I learned that I improved when I performed music that I liked. I attended the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY and received a B.S. in Studio Music in 1996. I then moved to San Diego, CA and started my own business teaching music. The lessons were taught at the students' homes and I incorporated the students' interests in teaching. I have also performed for many years and have written many songs that have been recorded and performed.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching method is unique; I never teach the same way for everyone. The main objectives I teach include performance, reading, ear training, theory, composition and improvisa
tion. I find that playing examples of music that you like is the best way to improve skills. I will recommend books that best suit your style and level. The main styles include (but not limited to) rock, blues, classical, pop, jazz and country. Please contact me if you have any other questions about my teaching methods.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Yamaha 88 key weighted action digital piano with recording features. I also have music stands and amps for guitars. We have a smoke and pet free home. I also have a large collection of sheet music and music books available for lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will travel to your home. Clark County, NV

At 67 years old I was a little nervous picking up a new instrument. I chose Edward and am glad that I did. He is patient and listens to each request that I make. He's teaching me in a way that is comfortable and to my liking. He goes the extra mile to teach me only songs that I wish to learn along with hints that make it easier. I couldn't ask for a better instructor and would highly recommend Edward. if you choose him, you will be glad that you did.

Edward has been giving my older son piano lessons for about a year. Now he's started teaching my younger son how to play the guitar. Both boys look forward to his lessons every week. Edward does a great job with both of them. We've been so happy with the job he does- very professional, accommodating to their needs and is a wonderful person. I would give him the highest recommendations!

Students can expect to enjoy a positive, supportive and joyful experience learning music theory, technique and skillfulness at the piano. Students will be inspired to achieve their goals and demonstrate their accomplishments in performance. For example; students are encouraged to learn their notes as well as they know their alphabet. When they can say and play the 24 notes of the grand staff in 30 seconds or less, they become a lifetime member of the 30 Second Club with a certificate and medallion award to commemorate this achievement. It's a big deal, so I feature the new members in recital programs. Parents are welcome and encouraged to sit in on lessons.

About Terri
At age nine I began piano and clarinet lessons and continued my music studies throughout high school and into college. I played in numerous solo and ensemble festivals, honor bands, piano recitals, adjudicated piano and soloist competitions, scholarship competitions and numerous concerts. I learned at a very young age that enthusiasm and creativity expressed by my teachers played an integral role in my motivation to succeed. My experience playing in band, orchestra, ensembles and as a soloist, gives me an enhanced ability to convey lessons in harmony either played between hands or in duets/ensembles.
Because I also have a strong background in ballet and ballroom dance, I utilize these talents to reinforce time signature and rhythm lessons. It's amazing to see how my students transfer the rhythm from their feet to their fingertips accurat
ely. This method also helps them visualize and interpret the music in a more satisfying manner.
Music is the centrifugal force in my life which I joyfully extend to my family and students. I am the proud mother of four children who grew up in a musical home; three of them are proficient, award-winning pianists. My students are also award-winning competitors in the Lisa Fiorenza Junior Piano Competition, Las Vegas, NV.
I have enjoyed teaching piano students ranging in age from 3 to 80 years old. Let's Make A Joyful Noise Together!

Learn to play the piano by learning to read and understand notes and rhythm. Learn good technique and fingering skills. Learn about chords and playing from a lead sheet.

About Dianne
With a Bachelor's degree (major instrument: piano, secondary instrument: voice) and more than 25 years of teaching experience, my students enjoy learning a variety of musical styles, as well as technical skills and music theory to enhance their learning and performance.

I met the piano at the age of 5, and fell in love the first time I sat on the piano bench. I immediately started taking piano lessons and have loved it ever since. I began taking voice lessons as a teenager and also studied organ for 7 years. I love making music, listening to music and sharing music with my students.

I have been a private teacher, choir director, Music Minister, organist, and classroom music teacher for over 25 years. Making music brightens every day.

I am married to a great guy and we have raised two children, both of whom are musicians i
n their own right. We have recently relocated to the Las Vegas area and I am looking forward to sharing music with the people of the North Las Vegas area.

*** Lesson Details ***
Preparing students to play and perform music for their own enjoyment and the enjoyment of their friends and families is the goal of the piano lesson.

The lesson begins with a review of the technique and songs from the previous lesson. Music theory is included as it applies to the music the student is working on. During the performance of the assigned music the student is shown how to make short exercises of problem sections. Games and improvisation are included as time permits and they apply to the student's music. Self-expression, encouragement and fun are the underlying themes of all we do.

Students are given options for the music they are working on and are encouraged to bring music that they want to play to their lessons. Music is chosen from a variety of styles, including classical, pop, hymns, jazz and movie/show tunes. Students are also taught to play from a lead sheet (melody line and chord symbols) beginning fairly early in their course of study.

I have taken lessons from Cindy for two years now. She is great with getting rid of my bad habbits and wrong techniques that my previous teacher did not care to correct. I appreciate her patience and effort very much. I noticed all her other students play very well in recital as well. I only wish I had her as my piano teacher many years earlier.

I am a guitarist by profession, but I studied piano as part of my conservatory training at UNC School of the Arts. I'm very capable of and would be happy to teach beginner piano.

About Michael
I moved to Las Vegas in August to pursue a doctorate of music in guitar performance. I'm also teaching at UNLV part time, and want to expand my teaching into the local community. I've been teaching for many years now, at universities, music stores and private in-home lessons like I'm offering on this site.

I aim to give my students the skills to pursue whatever they would like on the guitar. I'm a professional classical guitarist, but I got my start playing rock and roll and am comfortable teaching a variety of genres if the student wants to learn a specific style. I feel I am a great teacher for total beginners as well, I make sure the student has a rounded approach and avoids developing bad habits.

Now that he is my classmate, I've gotten to know him better as a person and guitar player. I can say he is same in personality and friendliness as when I met him a few years ago, and his performances ROCK!

I sat in on every lesson Michael gave my daughter, who had not studied guitar before. He uses the time effectively, balancing sight reading, repertoire development, music theory (which he presents in very practical and immediately useful ways), and at all times instilling the technique necessary to sustain rapid progress. My daughter really enjoyed studying with him, and I really enjoyed watching her go from a blank slate to a guitarist you want to listen to. I completely and unreservedly endorse this teacher.

I mainly teach the Alfred method while buttressing my lessons with theory and techniques learned from college; however, I will use whichever method the student is most comfortable with. I like to have fun with it and make sure the student is enjoying his or her time playing and practicing the piano so there is a lasting connection with the instrument.

About Aaron
My goal is to spread the love of music and music theory to as many people as I can. I have been playing piano for the past 15 years and have had great teachers from whom I've learned great playing, composing, and teaching techniques. I have been playing guitar for 10 years as well. I'm in an alternative rock band, The Perks, based out of Las Vegas, and have experience composing and playing multiple instruments. I have a thorough understanding of music theory and hope to share what I know with my students. I'm a student at UNLV, I tutor autistic kids, and I love music.

Thanks for checking out my profile! You have come to the right place! I’m happy to offer my teaching services, backed by over 15 solid years of fulltime teaching and 40 years of professional musical experience.

Every student has a particular way of learning, and I quickly access this and lean instruction towards his or her process. I tailor the lessons so that you will learn with the best possible speed and comprehension. Visual learners can benefit from additional work with paper or with Finale or Sibelius (I teach both programs, BTW). Aural learners benefit from listening to me demonstrate, and from hearing different variations of a given piece. Technical learners benefit from tactile, direct guidance of hand position of motion.

Above all, a love of music is critical to effective teaching. The love for music should be shared between student and teacher. Let me assure you that there is, for me, nothing on this earth as special and personal as music. I do what I do because I love ...

About Charles
I’ve been an active musician for over 40 years. I performed in rock bands from middle school through high school until I started my training at Berklee. After graduating with a degree in composition, I resumed touring with rock and pop bands until my early thirties. For the next ten years I taught privately and released 5 recordings of art music that received enthusiastic reviews both in the USA and in Europe. Three of these recordings were electronic and microtonal in nature, and two were solo piano recordings. Also during this time I became a certified teacher in the State of Connecticut.

After this phase of my life, I took a position as head of the music department at Proctor Academy in Andover, NH. I ran every aspect of the department for 5 years before leaving to focus on my studies in film score music. After completing an 18-month
course with Music for the Media (London) I opened a studio in New Hampshire at the granite Media Center and scored 15 TV episodes and 7 films before moving to Los Angeles for additional opportunities. I’m currently living in Las Vegas, still playing and composing, and still loving the music!
