Jimmy is great, super down to earth. Went in with zero knowledge and am astonished at the difference in such a short time.

Jimmy does a great job teaching you physical elements of singing and really helped me understand what my body is doing when singing.

I have been teaching guitar professionally for 2 years. My approach to students is unique because I cater differently to each student. Because each person is different, I like to build my curriculum around each student's own individual interests. Coming from a performance background and from personal experience, it is extremely important that the student enjoy their lessons and performing their own music. With me, you can expect to learn music theory, sight-reading, guitar technique, and learning your favorite tunes!

About Jimmy

I am a professional soloist performer and a music teacher. I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelors in Music Performance in classical guitar. I have studied classical guitar since I was 14 years old. While in college, I also studied jazz guitar and arranging. I was a part of both classic

Really enjoy the lessons as I am always learning new concepts, but would like to see us maybe continue practicing the same song for a longer period of time as new songs get introduced almost every other lesson. Overall, I have a great experience every weekend and look forward to each session!

I am a self-taught musician with 15 years of experience playing electric and acoustic guitar. My lessons begin by learning what inspires you as a musician, and working to take you where you want to go! Learning some of your favorite songs is often a great place to start. By learning a variety of music, you'll quickly begin to notice patterns & understand basic theory on what notes work together well. From there, you can apply that knowledge to improvisation, as well as songs you may want to write!

From those first few lessons, there's a million different ways we can explore the guitar together. With my lessons, I offer recording time in my home studio where you can learn how to write, record, produce, and mix fully arranged songs!

Reach out to say hi, and let me know what some of your immediate goals and questions are!

Specialties: Indie, Rock, Pop, Alternative, Psychedelic, Folk, Acoustic.
Open to students of all ages.

"Richard is so patient and knowledgeable. I am very happy with our lessons. Because of my background with classical guitar he wondered if the fact that he doesn't read music and I am renewing my mind back into it would not be a good teaching set-up. Not at all. I now have an electric guitar and the five years spent playing classical, now fifteen years ago, did not give me a good foundation for understanding music theory unfortunately. I have a genre I had already picked out fingerstyle electric and now with some thinking my way through the basics I did have I still need to learn just basic strumming etc. I understand what he is referring to in music so we still speak in the same key. Also and lastly my daughter has a severe seizure/dementia disorder that is very unpredictable and our caregiver's mom just passed away so there will be times when I just can't do a week/day. He has been very understanding. I am smiling from my soul because music is my healing path for difficult stuff I couldn't pay any doctor/therapist to even call me back for. Thank you so much for your assistance. Sincerely Teresa"

10 Extremely Influential Guitarists Who Were Not Technically Great

You don't have to be a virtuoso guitarist to touch people's hearts with your music! Guitar teacher Samuel B. shares a few of his favorite great-but-not-that-great famous guitar players... Towards the end of Johnny Cash's autobiography, you'll find the following paragraph: As to my musical future, my prospects look good.
