Teaching Piano in Holly Springs
By Morgan B.-Holly Springs Piano Teacher
Teaching piano lessons in Holly Springs, North Carolina has been a fun experience. Holly Springs has really grown over the years. I used to drive by pastures and cows, and now it is full of subdivisions, grocery stores, shops, and restaurants. I live right across the street from every fast food restaurant imaginable, a Super Wal-Mart, grocery store, and other shops and restaurants. My clients love dropping their kids off for piano lessons because they look forward to going shopping! I teach from an apartment in a family friendly neighborhood. When you drive to the neighborhood it is comprised of shops, apartments, and townhomes. My students and their parents frequently comment on how much they love where I live. When choosing a place to live I tried to think of my students and their parents. I wanted to live in a place that people would feel safe, a place they would enjoy coming to, and that would be convenient for students and their parents.
My first TakeLessons piano student, Abbi, has been such a joy to teach. Abbi is such a sweet and consciences student. When Abbi first began taking lessons, I taught her how to keep a nice, rounded hand position. I had her imagine that an egg was under her hand and if her hand went flat, then the egg would crack and the yoke would get over all the keys. I often use analogies to catch my student’s interest and help them remember concepts because my goal is to make learning fun! When Abbi played one of her favorite pieces, “Old MacDonald” with her eyes closed we were both so excited! Abbi went from using finger numbers only, playing pieces on the black keys to playing pieces on the white keys with the letters written in the notes. Abbi has also been learning how to read notes on the staff. What used to be challenging is now becoming easier for Abbi, such as naming notes on the staff and playing the notes confidently. As a piano teacher, it is exciting to see student’s progress. I like how Abbi gets excited about her pieces and plays them for friends and family. Abbi is already a performer, and she values positive feedback and encouragement. I am so thankful to TakeLessons for connecting me with Abbi and for giving me an opportunity to share my teaching experience in Holly Springs!
