What I Teach?
I have taught public school band and orchestra since 2012.
I teach at Tilghman's Academy of Music online privately and group classes since 2018. 
My primary instruments are woodwinds, but I also have taught numerous piano classes for children as young as 3 years old as well as adults. 
Subjects I teach reflect the interest of the students and may include: classical, jazz, pop, rock, worship, world music, theatre, and more.

Why I teach?
I believe every person has a connection to music. It is my passion to help my students develop life skills such as: critical thinking, creative expression, setting goals, overcoming obstacles, and finding your voice individually and in society. 
Music can heal us, unite us, transform us, reveal who we are, or take us on a spiritual journey.

In this class, we will discuss jazz performance. Class topics may include:

-jazz theory
-rhythms
-improvisation
-jazz song standards

Join this class each session to learn and play along with a new jazz technique. This class is open for instrumentalists who want to learn to play jazz music.

Jazz it Up!

We purchased introductory lessons for my 9-year-old to help her get started with the saxophone as she's learning it in band class. Kaitlyn was excellent.  She's very knowledgeable and very patient.  My daughter liked the lessons so much we decided to continue lessons with Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn is just the teacher I needed! I'm all self taught with 20+ years of experience, but I just wanted to elevate my skill. I'm also disabled. She had no problem working with me in finding a way to make it work for me to play lying in bed. Her calm demeanor and constant encouragement really helps me through the anxiousness I always feel. She has helped me believe in myself, and I'm so grateful I was able to find her! Doing classes online makes it all possible for me.

Kaitlyn was wonderful! Our instructor had to stop last minute and we hadn’t reached our goal yet before school started and she was able to meet with us right away and stay on track. She did a wonderful job working with my son. We are excited to finish out the summer with her!

I tried many teachers before, but Kaitlyn was the first one who really made music make sense. She always went at my pace and found songs that I would enjoy playing. I have seen myself improve more than I ever have with my other instructors.
