I can't say enough good things about Earl's instruction. He's extremely knowledgeable and talented and yet responsive, inspiring, and kind. Rather than applying a narrow and rigid approach to teaching, lessons are built around my abilities and interests and he has taught me new ways of looking at music and playing guitar. I feel very fortunate to be one of his students.

I have been teaching saxophone for 10 years. I enjoy teaching people of all ages, both children and adults, of all levels. I believe in teaching a strong core of music fundamentals but also in finding what makes music special to each student. Lessons should be fun and engaging. I have several students audition into regional bands, and select school ensembles every year. But we also make sure to play some pop tunes and top 40.

About Kendra

I am a musician with an equal passion for performing and teaching. I have taught ages 8-80 at all levels from beginner to advanced. I believe in the importance of teaching a strong core of music fundamentals but I also want to find what makes music special for each individual student. I believe les

I am a beginner with Alto Sax. I took my first class with Kendra and was blown away by her knowledge and professionalism. She is extremely patient and I could immediately tell that she wanted me to succeed during our interaction...I'm definitely looking forward to taking more classes with her in the future. I definitely recommend...first impressions are ever-lasting...

I highly recommend Kendra as a woodwinds teacher! I'm back playing tenor sax after 40 years off, and wanted to get my technique back, and learn to express my musical ideas. Now I'm playing better than my high school days, and newly doing jazz solos.
Kendra is wonderfully, broadly trained, and very effective at working with me on everything from embouchure and fingerings to maximizing effectiveness of practice. She is ALWAYS upbeat, supportive, friendly, PATIENT, and helpful - and I've always looked forward to our lessons. She is very good at figuring out how to be helpful, and how to keep the joy in music even while working on technique, and at my request, music theory. I could not have enjoyed the experience more, or been more successful, than with Kendra.

I teach saxophone primarily through the tried and true Rubank method. Students will learn how to properly care for the instrument, how to read music, music theory, instrument technique, practice techniques, ear training (how to play by ear), reed selection, and both classical and jazz repertoire. I also employ custom exercises specifically for saxophone to help my students progress the fastest.

Kyle is a great piano teacher! He is very patient with my 12-year old son. Just yesterday he referred to him as “fun Kyle” because he teaches him small songs on the side that he can show friends and family or are for upcoming holidays. He’s always punctual and respectful of our family and home. I’m grateful to have found him!

"I don’t sit in on the lessons, but this is the first lesson my 13 yr old takes initiative to be ready for. No chasing him to be ready. He even voluntarily re joined the band at school. All good signs to me. We had a couple of hiccups and Andrew was very accommodating to assist with rescheduling. BEST thing busy mom doesn’t have to leave home!"

"I am a teacher in the LAUSD and I know a good teacher when I encounter one. Rick is unbelievable. After his first sax lesson with Rick, my son’s tone was so rich, full, and bright. He made more progress in that first lesson than he had after months with his previous teacher. Rick has developed a system to teach his students how to improvise. My son now is able to solo at such a high level. He plays in the Jazz Ensemble at his school and the band director now refers to him as a “Monster.” The best thing about Rick is that he gets excited when he sees the growth and progress in my son. He loves to see him succeed and that’s why he works so hard to find the most direct and effective way to bring out the best in his students. I know how challenging teaching can be. Rick is one of a kind and his students are very fortunate to have him!"

"Thanks for letting me provide a reference for Alex. I have taken alto sax lessons from him over the years, starting about 4-5 years ago. Alex is a great musician and teacher. Each lesson was consistently structured for: sound quality and listening, technical work and reading, duets, and improvisation. Rather than heavy music theory, he would instead provide routines to reinforce these concepts. He was always patient, and emphasized what I did well, with subtle redirection to correct problems. I definitely improved under his guidance and teaching.

The only reason I stopped seeing him was that my job became very demanding, and I could not devote enough time to practice and justify the time and cost of lessons. But even when I showed up unprepared, he was understanding and flexible to work with me.

If it would have been possible to have Alex come to me, I would have welcomed that."
