Olises N.

West Covina, CA

About Olises

Olises N. began formally learning drums at age 12 when he attended Washington Irving Junior High School. Having received a strong musical foundation under the direction of Ms. Lynn Johnson-Lang, he went on to being accepted into the Hamilton Music Academy/Humanities Magnet school in Culver City. Under the direction of David Sears (Senior Director at The Grammy Foundation) and a "whose who" of visiting artists, Olises' basics were sharpened, his musical horizons expanded and his passion and admiration for teaching were fueled. Olises' first teaching experience was at a local high school where he was asked by the music director to teach a summer drums/percussion course. He continued to perform, travel, and record with many groups while attending Pasadena City College where ...

Has a great deal of knowledge on overall music history and how percussion has developed through each of its stages. Appropriates style according to the interest of desired drummer and can demonstrate the relationships between student's preferred styles and how they relate to others. As a student this is very important because of its role in the development of ones own technique and style and how one can build on whats been done before.

About Jeremy

Hi! My name is Jeremy. I started playing guitar at the age of 14 and by 16 I knew I wanted to play music for a living. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a performance degree in May, 2013. Some of my favorite guitarists are: Oz Noy, Django Reinhardt, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jim Hall, and Steve Lukather. Playing music has taught me to be open-minded and I love (or appreciate) all styles of music. My favorite artist is D'angelo. I am currently a working musician with guitar as my primary instrument. I have been trying to come up with the perfect words to describe this teacher but I can't find anything I feel is good enough, other than the words wonderful and amazing. The way she teaches, and just her presence alone just blows me away, and I couldn't be more thankful to have met her and have the opportunity of her teaching me. If anyone is meant to be a teacher,it would be this person. She is so gifted.. Believe me when I say, if you have any doubt about choosing the right teacher, look no further because you just found her.

Amy has truly changed my life both as a performer and person. She helped me polish my vocal technique and singing methods, in addition to acting and audition coaching. She was very instrumental in helping me pick amazing audition songs and how to really give a memorable performance, even if it's just 16 bars at an open call! Before studying with Amy, I was a bit unfocused and rusty, now I am poised and confident in my singing abilities. Thank you Amy, you are an incredible and inspiring teacher!

Amy is the perfect teacher! She encourages and infuses her students with a feeling of success that makes you want to do more and continue to improve.
I had been having difficulty with vocal confidence and Amy helped me with that immediately. From the first session, I learned things about my approach to singing that I could correct and put to use at the very next opportunity. I have now have a voice because of Amy!
She is a fantastic Teacher and I highly recommend her to students of all ages!

Thaddeus G.

San Dimas, CA

About Thaddeus

I've dedicated a lifetime to learning, studying and performing on Latin Percussion and Drum set. I began study at age 13 and was playing professionally by the age of 18. The truth is, I didn't wake up one day and choose drums and Latin Percussion - It chose me! And thankfully, music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've been fortunate to have experience in performing all kinds of music as well as formal study with master drummers from Cuba, veteran Jazz Drummers, Soul drummers, a school education in music and drums, and also have the intuitive music knowledge that only comes from a lifetime of dedication to the art form. Because of my playing experience - I can teach you all kinds of music styles! Salsa, Latin & Brazilian, Jazz, Church Worship, Rock, Soul,

Conga Drums · In studio
I've grown up much of my life witnessing various great conga players that I have been privileged to experience. At a workshop held by Thaddeus with several other students, I was able to gain a much better understanding of conga rhythms and patterns. In addition to this, Thaddeus brings extensive knowledge on the history of the conga to further my understanding and learning. With a group performance at the end of the workshop season, our group was able to demonstrate what we learned for many others.

Thaddeus helped me learn various characteristics of percussion and I am grateful for his instruction. One thing I appreciated about learning percussion from Thaddeus was his ability to not only be able to explain the music but to be able to artfully explain musical concepts, relationships between percussionist and other musicians in a group, and how to use the various percussive instruments. Thaddeus' decades of experience become evident in his teaching. Thanks to the instruction I received, I was able to perform much more confidently in various performance and live group environments.
