"Experienced voice teacher of 10 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages 13 and up. I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong vocal technique. I am a proponent of Functional Singing which focuses on how the vocal mechanism works. It allows both teacher and singer to explore the voice and its associated muscle systems. Singers learn to embrace their voice, not one that is falsified through imitation.

About Shannon

Shannon teaches functional singing which aims to improve vocal range, stamina, endurance, flexibility, and most importantly: healthy singing. Shannon received her M.M. in Vocal Performance at Louisiana State University. She has performed extensively in Europe and the U.S. in opera, musical thea

Shannon is a great instructor and just a cool, funny person. She makes learning fun and even when she's being critical (that's what I pay her for, btw), she does it in such a way as to truly be helpful. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons. It's a highlight of my week, and my friends, who I play music and sing with, have noticed a real improvement in my singing voice since I've been working with her. I highly recommend hiring her as your vocal coach. FYI, I am a male in my 50's who just started singing in recent years. I wish I had been working with her since I was in my teens or 20's.

Shannon is undoubtedly an expert in her field! She's especially good at identifying mistakes and helping you adjust them. She has a great attitude and makes it easy to overcome the anxiety that you may feel from trying something new. Overall, she's awesome!

I have been learning/ working with Bil for several and have LOVED every minute of it. He encourages you to become the musician YOU want to be and pushes you to find YOUR own unique style. He has taught to believe in myself as a musician and to be the best I can be.
Guy F.
Bil is knowledgeable and encouraging. I’m a beginner piano student, with aspirations of playing jazz. And while I’m not yet playing any jazz standards, Bil has taught me the beauty of extended chords, how to quickly build certain voicing of 7th and 9th chords, and encouraging me not only to play with them, but also to start modifying other songs I’ve already learned with said chords. His love for music theory and composition are evident, and he is eager to share his knowledge with his students at their own pace and level of understanding. For anyone considering Bil, I would encourage you to take a lesson with him and experience his easygoing yet focused teaching style.

Very personable and professional, she has many different ideas and exercises to allow a voice to develop. I had one other voice teacher who never even had me learn a song. "Nick Russo sparked a love for music in me that I had once thought lost. I was hesitant to re-learn the guitar after years of playing aimlessly, but Nick has guided me and inspired me throughout the whole process. He is incredibly patient and understanding with me, even when I don't practice as much as I should. His knowledge of stringed instruments and music from Metallica to Carcassi is incredible. In our lessons, he blends everything that he has learned over his many years of education and performance to teach me a holistic view of music that has changed the way I look at the instrument. If you want to learn how to play an instrument or become a better musician, no matter your age, there is no better person to guide you than Nick Russo. Trust me, pick Nick!"

Tips for Singing: Why Practicing Scales Matters

It's a common misconception that singers and instrumentalists are two completely different types of musicians. They're actually much more alike than you might think!
