Just had my first lesson with Billy and it was fantastic! He created the perfect balance of learning something enjoyable that I would be excited to go home and practice along with things that I had skipped over and knew I needed to re-visit in order to improve. I was impressed with his ability to quickly gauge my skill level and prior music knowledge so it didn’t feel mundane but challenged me just the perfect amount. Excited for our next lesson already!

Billy helped me understand what i wanted out of music and tailored the lesson to do just that...started w the basics but then let me direct whete i wanted to take my playing...easy going and made it so much fun....i would recommend him to anyone at the beginner/intermediate level, as he is adept at getting to know who u are as a player and goes at the appropriate pace....great teacher!

I have lots of experience arranging and composing for the ensembles I am associated with. I am a university professor and director of the jazz department. I write or arrange a piece for the top jazz ensemble each semester. I compose original music for jazz groups I regularly perform in as well. I have arranged for brass quintet, brass tentet and a chamber ensemble of mixed instrumentation.

Dave has been my only serious trumpet teacher leading up to my graduation from college, but I still feel he is set apart from many other teachers. He has deep respect for his students and always wants to see them succeed. He seeks to understand his students and teaches to their needs, not only as musicians but as people. I place immense value on his guidance as I plan to begin graduate studies in trumpet, and will probably seek his guidance again later. Dave's teaching ability is bolstered by his colossal and diverse experience, and I consider myself very fortunate to have been his student.

I signed my first publishing deal in Los Angeles in 2004 and spent three years studying music at the Biola Conservatory of Music. "Anyone with half a brain knows that if a student is unhappy they can change teachers easily. Only a coward writes anonymous reviews out of jealousy. Since Take Lessons guarantees all lessons a person with integrity would simply work things out over the phone instead of hitting "below the belt". Some teachers have learned from the best at M.I. in Hollywood so that is telling it like it is. This is not "Name Dropping." I have known James for 15 years and have found him to be the best teacher ever, period.
Don't believe anything you read in "anonymous" reviews."

"I’m an older gentlemen, and I never though I would be able to play the piano. However, two years have passed since my first lesson with Nadia and I play almost like a pro. She is an excellent teacher with a special approach to every student. She would come to my location in Clearwater for two hour sessions. During this time she helped me improve in theory, in playing the piano, and even in tuning my grand piano. She is very skilled and talented. She really knows what she is doing. She is now tutoring my grand children and they absolutely love her!"
