I have been taking the world by surprise since the age of 4. I began studying at Queens College at 6 years old and was a recital pianist by the age of 12. I was a consumer of music, from the Music Theory lessons on Saturdays, piano lessons on Thursdays and voice lessons on Saturday afternoons, my life was filled with music.

It is to no one's surprise that I completed my first demo at the age of 13 and was performing for Queens Colleges audiences at 14. I went on the rank high in the NYSSMA series in both piano and voice. I also went on to study music in college and began touring with gospel troupes nationally. Since then I has done many workshops, Master Classes, tour dates, theatre shows etc. Too many to date. I am a sought after teacher for voice, piano and broadway singing. I train public speakers, actors and teachers as well.

Seriously such an incredible instructor. He understood where I was beginning from (the absolute minimum) and taught me accordingly. I still value everything I learned from him, and the techniques have come in handy in various areas of my life. As someone who officiates weddings, is an entrepreneur that predominately uses videos to share my business, as well as being a busy aunt of 4 incredible nieces and nephews and has to project my voice-I use gold nuggets of what Prof. Eric Walker taught me on a daily basis. I STRONGLY recommend him-even if it is for a short while! Note-I had him for one semester and grew so much.

For five semesters I studied voice with Eric Walker at Rock Valley Community College. He took the time to show me the basics of using your voice properly in singing. Mr. Walker was patient in teaching me how to breathe deeply which has helped me in my singing today. Also, he taught me how to have more forward resonance when singing. How I Teach Guitar:

I am a patient, consistent and authentic teacher who maintains a positive, low pressure teaching environment. My teaching style is "student centered." I believe it is important for students to learn and understand music at their own pace and on there own terms in order to achieve the best results. I do not "harp on" students to practice more, but rather, I am constantly searching for ways to instill self-motivation in my students. I will teach my students whatever they want to learn. However, I teach currently with their music of interest, a progressive curriculum of technique and theory based repertoire that will enhance playing for any style of guitar. Specifically, all of my students are taught to read music - not just classical and jazz students, but rock and blues students too. Also, I think performing is very important for a student of music, so I have frequent student recitals. Recitals are a lot of fun and a good way for students to feel proud about their progression. I like to have recitals every three months and have all of my students play some music that they have been learning. I believe student recitals should be a "no pressure" event, so I never make students play in them if they don't want to. But, really, they always want to.

What my students should expect to get from my teaching:

I believe each student progresses at their own rate and students progress the fastest when they are interested. I help my students to continually progress, and more importantly, I help them become more and more interested in playing music. My students will be surprised at their own abilities as they develop a love for playing the guitar.

Curriculum,  I use a myriad of curriculum and books from the Suzuki Method to that of my own. I really try to custom make a different curriculum for each student. In general, I will use a method book specific to the style of music that the student is learning, and with that will assign solo's and other technique building repertoire in addition to music that the student is requesting to learn.

Practice:

I have no specific time requirements for at home practice, but I strongly suggest daily practice to all my students (I give younger students a practice schedule checklist to help them to remember). Inevitably, students who don't practice will quit playing.

I can teach all styles of guitar beginner to advanced. My greatest strength is classical guitar, but I enjoy teaching any style. I have never taught composition, but I have written and recorded any popular songs and instrumental compositions and am certain I could teach up to an intermediate level.

When did you begin playing [instrument], and why?:

I've been singing since I was about 8. I began to play piano when I was a teenager, because many of my classmates were very skilled at the piano, and I became inspired to be like them.

What are your personal goals as a musician?:

I love opera, and my goal is to compose my own. I plan on working closely with the librettist, since I'm a poet as well.

Do you have a memory of a time when a musical concept or technique really clicked? Something you'll remember forever?:

I never knew what perfect pitch was until I was much older. I also didn't realize I had perfect pitch until a professor at an audition made me aware of my ability. Since then, it's become a wonderful tool.

What is your favorite piece of advice from one of your past (or current) teachers?:

Being compassion
ate with a student will allow them to fearlessly open up to their potentials.

What was your most challenging moment learning an instrument?:

In the winter months, my body feels tight and cold, and sometimes this causes tension during playing or singing. That's why to me it's important to work in a warm environment, do proper daily stretching, and have a healthy lifestyle (good diet, exercise, proper sleep).

What is your biggest musical achievement?:

Composing a fugue.

Favorite thing about teaching?:

I love sharing my passion for music with other human beings.

What is a piece of advice you would like to share with anyone learning music?:

If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Music is meant to be fun, enjoy it!

About Anabelle...

Anabelle has been involved with sounds and music from an early age. Her greatest forte is her hearing. When she was young, people thought she might become a voice actor, because her skill at replicating voices was quite apparent. Still, she loved to sing and had been regularly involved in choirs. She dabbled in violin in the fifth grade, but she didn't feel a "click." Without despairing, she tried her luck with piano and felt instantly in sync. She knew this was the right instrument for her. During her piano studies, she continued to work on her voice. In addition, she studied the workings of a sound board, and was head sound chief at her high school. At the college level, she began to pursue composition, while still continuing with piano and vocal studies. She holds an A.A. with a music focus (piano performance), a B.M. in music theory, and a M.M in music education from Boston University. She has been teaching music since 2006 and has worked with a wide range of ages and various group sizes. Her joy is working with people in a field that she is passionate about. Her interests include music (jazz, classical, opera, new age), ballet, composition, yoga, meditation, going to the gym, hiking and camping, scuba-diving, sailing,Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, cooking and baking, film-editing, sound engineering, poetry, reading good books, building websites, and watching documentaries.

I am a beginner guitar player inspiring to become the next Eddie Hazel (Of Funkadelic fame for you unenlightened ones). I was referred to Jeremy by a former music teacher at Anne Arundel Community College. I was able to set up a weekly time with him at his house. He has a very clean and professional setting. I have been taking lessons under Jeremy's tutelage for a few months now. I have to say I am surprised at my own progress. My technical skills are blossoming but it's the music theory that is the real gift that Jeremy has given me. I always shrugged theory off thinking if I can hear it, I can play it. But now I am beginning to see the doors that music theory can open. Music is a vast universe and I have to give him credit for opening my ears, eyes, and mind to the possibilities of soooouuunds.

I am a music major at Kansas State University, having completed four of the required music theory classes at a exceeding level.

Lessons will involve learning the basic elements of music theory, such as major and minor keys, music notation rules, and chord structures. With fundamentals in place, we will advance on to the harder aspects of chord identification, counterpoint, and structure.

Because of the nature of learning this subject, we can work with instruments or voice to help learn and grasp the concepts. You should also expect to have some level of outside work as well so that we do not waste time in our lessons going over material you have already learned.

As a leader of ‘June Trio’, awarded Research Enhancement Funds from Michigan State University, he performed in Bucharest, Romania with an invitation for a semi-finalist of International Bucharest Jazz Competition 2015. In 2014, he also played at National Academy For the Performing Arts in Trinidad and Tobago.
While he was pursuing his Master of Music Degree in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University, he served as a Teaching Assistant, and he was a member of Bebop-Spartan, the Jazz Orchestra I, directed by Rodney Whitaker. He played and recorded worldly renowned jazz musicians, such as Joe Hunt, Christian McBride, Jeff Hamilton, Antonio Hart, Jon Faddis, Mark Turner, Ben Street, and Peter Bernstein to
name a few.
Ever since he started to form his own group to play for the public, trio has been his most favorite ensemble. He played with his trio many times at different venue in Boston, while he was attending Berklee College of Music. Also he was a featured jazz artist at Club Bohemia, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
As a sideman, he played and recorded many times in Boston, Lansing as well as South Korea. When MSU Spartan Jazz Trombone Group was a winner of ITA, Winding Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition in 2014 he was the rhythm section.
Junewon is not only fascinated by jazz guitar playing but also jazz harmony, arranging, and composing. “Isn’t It Love”, one of his composition has been released by recording of New York City based jazz guitarist, Peter Bernstein in 2012.
Currently, he plays guitar with Shekinah Worship Band every Sunday at Sa-Rang Comunity Church in Anaheim, CA, while he is working on his debut album by composing, arranging, and rehearsing with his trio.
