I have been incorporating theory into the lessons for the 25 plus years I've been teaching. It's an integral part of learning each piece and additional books can be used to reinforce new concepts if needed.

I am a professional violinist and violist. I learned to play viola when I was 13 and our school music teacher was forming a string quartet. We had many terrific violinists at the school but no violists so I volunteered to learn. It opened up many worlds and opportunities for me. I received a big scholarship because I played viola when I did my Masters Degree at Boston U. I got chances to travel abroad that were only because I played viola. So it’s a wonderful thing for students to add if they already play violin or to switch to if they prefer the deeper, darker sound. Have fun! Add opportunities to your life!

We'll start off by talking through your goals for your voice and what you want to achieve from taking lessons. We will work on different techniques that make up a great voice and then apply what you learned to the music you love. Lessons are fun and we will work hard to bring out your best voice and create a sound you love!

About Luca

There are lots of reasons people take singing lessons...a dream of performing for crowds, wanting to melt faces at karaoke, not being embarrassed when singing in the shower... But the common goal is finding your voice and creating a sound you love. My studio is designed to create a space where that

"We are 2 beginners taking the class together. We have taken 3 lessons. Rich is teaching us finger strengthening exercises, chords and notes which we can use to play songs, and encouraging us to find melodies using just the strings. The lesson flies by and already we can see our improvement. Last summer I tried to teach myself using YouTube and I have learned so much more in 3 weeks than I learned all summer. He is upbeat and positive. I would recommend him as a ukulele teacher."

"Stop wasting your time - take Robert.

I only had the pleasure of taking piano lessons with Robert for two months since I got into Harvard and had to move to the East Coast, but I can confidently attest that he is a phenomenal teacher. To begin with, Robert brings to the table not only his classical training but also an open, creative, out-of-the-box approach. He is extremely knowledgeable and seasons lessons with fantastic facts about composers and pieces which makes everything a lot more interesting and memorable. lessons are versatile and designed to develop several key skills simultaneously. I never really played the piano before but after only two months with Robert I could read notes, develop my technique and actually play two beautiful pieces! If you are looking for a well-rounded, brilliant, cool teacher - search no more."

"My son has been struggling with piano for a few years. Then we met Fawn and he began taking lessons with her. She created a bond with him and they work as a team to get him reading notes and playing correctly. This is a feat to get a 13 year old young man to do! In the past few months since we started with Fawn, I have seen a change in my son - one I had only hoped for. Last week he was jazzed by his piano work and Fawn makes him feel good about himself and his progress. The other teacher took months to teach him 1 song, doing a few measures each week. In 6 months he has played at least 40 songs a month. She knows how to move people forward, without skipping any of the important stuff. My son is reading music. He is loving piano. Huge turnaround. Thanks Fawn!"

Easy and Fun Vocal Warmups for Kids

Are you wondering how to find fun and age-appropriate vocal warm ups for kids? Teaching young voices presents a unique challenge to voice teachers. As singers, our body is our instrument, and we work to develop muscle memory in a way that supports good vocal technique and healthy singing. However, younger students are working with an instrument that is not fully developed. It is unwise to train young voices in the same way we train adult voices, as their physical instrument is going to change in …

No More Sticky Piano Keys! | How to Clean Piano Keys

Ever get "in the zone" when you're playing piano? Your fingers glide effortlessly across the keys and you feel like the music is a gentle breeze that blows through you. Suddenly, you hit a sticky key and the moment crumbles around you. Sticky piano keys can be a real pain in the butt, but with the right piano care and maintenance they can be prevented. Keys become stuck for a variety of reasons, such as changes in humidity, dirty keys, and even foreign objects lodged between the keys. …

Tips for Open Mic: 3 Ways Guitarists Can Shine

Guitarists, are you ready to hit the stage at a local open mic? Polish your performance with these tips from guitar teacher Samuel B.... Performing (like songwriting) is a craft at which any dedicated musician can excel. It requires no prerequisites – only the desire to share your talent and creations. My high school music teacher once said Thomas Edison misappropriated the original purpose of music by inventing machinery to record it – that nothing can replace your experience of seein …
