Inspiring students to work toward their goals in each music lesson is my passion! I've been playing ukulele for years now and even play in a local band. Ukuleles have a mellow, happy sound that we can start learning songs on from the first lesson.

I specialize in helping beginning ukulele students have a firm foundation in theory, technique, sight-reading, and artistry through fun and engaging lessons. We will also learn about stage fright, better, more effective practice, and more.

I'm a fun-loving teacher who has taught music in schools for 7 years and people of all ages in my private piano, voice and ukulele studio since 2012. When you take ukulele lessons from me, you can expect great teaching practices, as well as a teacher who cares about you and your progress toward your specific goals.

About Shannalee

Performing and practicing the art of music making has been my passion since I was very young. When I was about 5, I started performing with my mom around our community and loved it! I'm classically trained and come from a musical family. I felt drawn to get my Bachelors of Music Education (K-12 wit

Shannalee has a wide variety of musical and teaching experience which she thoroughly enjoys sharing with her students. It's amazing how she can help develop musical abilities in so many creative and fun ways. By tailoring her lessons according to the specific needs of each student, it is apparent that she cares deeply about nurturing their music development. I highly recommend Shannalee to be your music teacher!

I know Shannalee's work because she was the music teacher at the school I teach at. We were sad to see her go as her husband's career plans affected her decision to stay at the school. She is a pure professional. And her patience and skill with kids made me jealous. She planned and carried out major musical events for the school. She was so nice to everyone. I never saw or heard anything negative from her. She's a great person, responsible, and has tons of ideas that keep kids interested. You can't go wrong. I highly recommend her.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Shannalee and her family for over 10 years. I have provided Shannalee with vocal instruction and have observed her teaching. She is excellent at both performing and teaching! Beyond that, Shannalee is not only honest and kind, she is genuine from the inside out. I enthusiastically recommend her to you!

Lets get fiddling-on the viola! I believe in creating well-rounded musicians that can play any style of music. I will teach you a solid foundational technique, including advanced shifting techniques and simple but beautiful vibrato, that will allow you to play any style of music you would like. I teach all of my students how to improvise in a clear, systematic way, and provide a safe and fun environment to practice being musically creative. You will learn how to "sound" like a fiddler AND a classical violist.

I'm Suzuki Method certified and use a unique blend of method books including the O'Connor Method and a fiddle tableture system I have created. American fiddle, celtic, gypsy, jazz and Mexican waltz's are some of the muscial styles that you will enjoy while learning a solid foundational technique. You will also learn to read music notation right from the get-go. I have lots of experience with teaching individuals with ADHD and Learning Disabilities and have created a visiual ...

She was extremely patient and if I had to miss a lesson, she would insist on lowering the price for the month. I wish I hadn’t had to move, or I’d still be taking lessons from her!

Nisha has been my teacher for almost ten years now! I have learned how to play fiddle, while also getting a classical background in music. We study theory and go in depth on writing your own music and improv. She always makes it so fun and easy to learn!!

About: I am a classically trained singer, music teacher, songwriter, podcaster, and a gigging & studio vocalist in pop, jazz, blues, R&B, and country. I began performing twenty years ago after my junior high school principal encouraged me to join the school choir! I then started studying voice in high school and singing has been my focus ever since. I always have felt as long as you love it, practice it, and pursue it you'll always achieve it! I have performed alongside Seal, Mavis Staples, Spiritualized, Leon Bridges, while having the great pleasure of singing in front of Sidney Portier!

Education: I graduated from UC Riverside with a BA in music and an emphasis in vocal performance. I trained classically under William Hanrahan at UC Riverside. I completed my teaching certificate with the UK based BAST program where I learned more about vocal acoustics and anatomy. I’m also currently studying contemporary voice with John Henny. I believe that as long as I continue to learn I will ...

Jamila's a good listener and could help anyone from a novice, like, myself, to someone whom is more classically trained.
Dee
Highly recommended! Jamila offers guidance that translates well for someone like me who does not play any instruments and does not have any experience distinguishing notes. I learn something new each time I attend a lesson. Though I have been singing at karaoke bars for years, in the car, and at home, I am now gaining a better understanding of how to sing in a more consistent way and work with melodies to bring out the best in my voice. Jamila has given me a lot more confidence in my vocal abilities. My goal is to branch out from karaoke in bars and be able to sign up for an open mic night with live instrument accompaniment instead of using karaoke vocal guidance.

I try to help each songwriter become the best writer they can be through their own sound and language. During the lessons, I do quite a bit of analysis of a student's favorite pieces, as well as my own...then incorporate that into their own songwriting process.

About Joe

I absolutely love teaching music! After over 20 years of teaching, performing, writing, and recording in all styles/genres, it continues to be a great adventure. It is a joy to pass this on to others...especially seeing my students that never touched the instrument going on to be very proficient

How to Sing with a "Raspy Voice" Without Hurting Your Voice

Listen, I love me a good, “gritty” rasp as much as the next person but, there is a time and a place. (Lookin’ at you, Chris Stapleton.) Yes, I said it, a vocal coach who likes to hear the enemy of healthy singing, or raspiness, every once in a while. It’s a great way to evoke emotion not just in your song but to the listener’s ear. They hear that rasp and affiliate it with passion, grit, pain, and so on! However, there is a right way and wrong way to approach raspy singing. Whe …
