Auditions can be a scary thing but in our lessons geared toward Audition Prep we will work to prepare our minds AND bodies for the stressful moment of an audition.

Preparation will include structured performance opportunities, mock audition settings, and regular self-recording. Additionally, we will read and discuss literature on the mind-body musical connection and apply these mental preparation techniques that allow a musician to be optimally prepared and comfortable in an audition setting.

About Caitlin

I am a life-long musician and active performer that moved to Salt Lake City in the summer of 2015 from Chicago, IL. I've been playing music since age 5 and have variously studied piano, cello, and percussion. As a double major in Anthropology and Music at Lawrence University (Appleton, WI), I am dr

Caitlin is the bee's knees! Great at explaining things in a simple format and passionate about teaching! I would highly recommend her for all your musical needs!

Wonderful! I haven't seen my son this excited about the future of his music in a very long time. She helped him correct a few issues and listened to what was important to him in continuing his musical journey then made a bit of a plan to continue forward. She even stayed a little longer to help with a piece he will be performing in a couple of weeks. She seems to have a very strong classical base but has expanded into other areas, which is exactly what my son needs at this time.

We are so lucky to find such a wonderful teacher. Kait is so helpful--my daughter has already shown significant improvement, and I believe that she will continue to get better. Kait is very knowledgeable, experienced in a wide range of topics, and a real sweetheart with my teenager.

I do not really do long review. I would give Kait 6 stars if I could. Awesome.

Kait provided a very thorough grounding regarding breathing and breathing apparatus at the first lesson. This is exactly what my granddaughter needed to enable her to move forward. My grandchild was very satisfied when she left the class.

Hello!

I am a private music instructor specializing in woodwind instruments looking to take on clarinet, flute and saxophone students in the Orange County area!

My lessons consist of a well balanced coverage of exercises (scales, note patterns, etudes, duets, major repertoire, etc) geared towards building a solid foundation in playing technique. This allows each student to be accurate and expressive with a sense of ease in their playing! Students of the studio are also thrown into the world of music! They are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, listen to music regularly, and attend masterclasses. The goal is not just to learn an instrument, but to also develop a life-long love and appreciation for music!

I am very proud to say that my students soar through their band and orchestra programs in school and obtain a sound quality/sense of musicality way beyond their grade level! The majority of my students excel past their school music programs! They join youth/honor bands ...

About Carter

I believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy and be expressive on an instrument. It is miss instruction and a lack of passion in music education that allows students to become frustrated and bored, ultimately pushing them to quit their instruments. My goal as a music educator is not only to

I have 13 years of teaching experience. The lessons are molded to what you want to accomplish, and I will push you to make that happen. My own goals with each student is that they play with proper technique, understand music theory, read sheet music, are able to sight read, develop their ears, appreciate different genres of music, and most important of all, that they play from the heart. I specialize in classical music but I believe that this is the basis of all types of music and through this I can teach you any genre. I always tell my students that I can't do all the magic myself, they have to put forth the effort too. You get out of it what you put in it. I always want to have a good time and hope that you can join me in it! Please contact me with any questions.

About Xavier

I am a professional pianist, piano teacher, vocal coach and organist. I am originally from Puerto Rico, were I got my Bachelors in Music Performance with a specialization in piano from the Conservatory of Music in P.R. and have two Masters of Music from Eastern Michigan University, in Piano Perfoma

15 years ago, I started learning the piano and began my life-long pursuit of music. This pursuit has led me in a wide variety of directions. Today, I am currently a doctoral student at Wheaton Graduate School and hope to teach others the joy of playing the piano in my free time.

I have a passion for a wide variety of styles of music. For several years, I played professionally for weddings, shows, and musicals. I have led worship for churches in Michigan and Connecticut. At Yale, I was president of an organization called Yale Musical Cure, in which I played piano in hospitals, hospices, and charity concerts. While at Yale, I also studied theory, piano, sight-singing, and composition.

My teaching style varies from student to student. Music is a wonderfully diverse subject and every student has his own aspirations. I will do my best to cater each lesson to the student's goals and interests whether that is classical piano method, rock, jazz, folk, country, pop or anything in

"Jimmy is a great music teacher. He blends music theory and application in the right proportion to suit your needs. By teaching the fundamentals of music theory, he enables you to build a strong foundation. It's challenging for me to find time to practice but music lessons from Jimmy inspires me to make time to practice and dig deeper into music theory. The best part about his teaching style is that he structures and adapts his lessons to ensure that the student is having fun learning."

"I cannot recommend Billy enough. I studied jazz improvisation with Billy for three years, and later returned to study Brazilian guitar and Piedmont-style finger picking with him. I had been playing for more than twenty years when I started studying with him and he not only helped me improve my playing technically and creatively (on electric and nylon stringed guitars) but also expanded my knowledge of theory and helped me develop new approaches to composing and arranging. I am still working with the material he gave me and take lessons from him whenever my schedule allows."

"I had taken lessons locally for several months and was very frustrated. I was given a color coded sticker and sheet music to get me playing fast however I actually wanted to learn to read and understand music.

On a lark I found Stephanie on the takelessons site. We scheduled a call where I explained my experience, frustrations, and what I wanted to accomplish. I honestly did not think online classes would work. Was I wrong!! It takes great skill in verbally correcting bow holds, etc. and Stephanie is terrific. Before I was told to practice but I never knew HOW to. Stephanie assigns specific tasks, # of time to repeat, and duration for homework. She is so friendly and easy to work with. I would recommend her for any age or skill level??"

5 Fun Games for Learning Piano Chords

Learning to play the piano is a really rewarding process, for aspiring musicians of all ages! But remember: as with all new skills, it takes a lot of practice and commitment to make progress.
