I play and teach many styles and guide my students through the genre of music that they feel most excited about. I explain/demonstrate technical aspects of playing, musicality and theory and show each student the quickest path to success.

About Josh

Hi there! My name is Josh. I have been playing guitar for the majority of my life and have been teaching since 2010. I have a music degree with a focus on classical guitar and I play rock, blues, jazz, folk, pop, and just about anything you want to learn. Whether your goals are to strum and sing

My experiences with Josh have been great. I have played guitar for many years, but my approach has always been lacking in relation to technique. Josh has helped me form a better mechanical understanding of my posture and movements. The adjustments he has helped me make have resulted in less stress on my fingers, wrist, and arms. He has always been thoroughly prepared for lessons. I would absolutely recommend Josh, especially for new musicians who want to learn their instrument in a fundamentally sound and detail oriented manner.
Paul W.
Been a student of Josh's for a few months now and feel very fortunate to have found him. His attention to detail, continuity between sessions, and obvious broad knowledge base are a few of the elements making this a very rewarding learning experience. I am learning to read music, understand music theory, and develop technique. I have very much looked forward to each lesson which Josh takes the time and effort to build upon with clear assignments and follow up. Josh is highly personable, professional and supportive. I highly recommend Josh.
Mark J.
Excellent, takes time to explain music so I can have a better understanding of the whole process.
I look forward to each class as I learn more.

I've been working with Trevor for just over a year. His teaching goes beyond just dry technique and theory to answer the question "why am I doing this?" When you work with Trevor, there is purpose behind everything you do. He starts with your big picture goals and breaks them down into actionable steps that you can take feeling like it's going somewhere. This makes for way more efficient and exciting practice sessions. If you don't know exactly where you want to go with your playing, Trevor will help you find that as well.
Nathan S.
Trevor is an amazing teacher! He works with you to make a plan to learn whatever interests you. I can bring in any kind of music or style of playing and he will help me learn all of the elements. He is happy to go as far into theory as you want or stay more high level. Also has been very helpful in transitioning from learning tunes to writing and recording my own songs. Highly recommend.

I’ve never taken a lesson with Jonas, but in nearly three decades of covering local goings-on as Music Editor at the Austin Chronicle, I can certainly attest that this man is a musical GENIUS. And as I type that word, I’m trying to think of another local musician I would so readily apply said assignation to. His accumen on six strings is preternatural. In playing with a broad cross section of bands and individuals, Jonas asserts a truly uncanny ability to coax any sound out of his instrument at any give moment. When he does, it’ll be the ONLY sound that should’ve have come forth at that juncture. That’s a rare feat in ANY musician. Jonas’ confidence as a musician/guitarist/producer is only equal to his empathy for others and both remain palpable as his greatest gifts outside of shit-hot natural ability. If I played guitar, I’d absolutely lose my mind at the opportunuty to be mentored by Jonas. You will find NO ONE BETTER. Amen, y’all.

Jason is a great guitar teacher. He was very patient when teaching our boys. He is easy to talk to and made learning the guitar fun. He also let us know in advance if he needed to reschedule a lesson. We would definitely have Jason as a teacher in the future."

"My son has really enjoyed and benefited from his lessons with Christian. He had no knowledge of the guitar. After a few months, I've seen a huge improvement in his playing ability. I've also noticed his enjoyment for music has increased significantly. The lessons are for an hour but he doesn't hesitate to stay longer if needed. Christian is a wonderful teacher and definitely was the perfect choice for my son."

"Alex is a great teacher

I love taking lessons from Alex. At first I was skeptical about taking lessons via Skype but it really works great. It is such a time saver to be able to take the lessons from my home. Alex is very patient and always is prepared. I had been particularly interested in practicing guitar rhythms. He put together rhythm exercises in several keys for me to practice. He sends them to me in advance so I can practice. He is really good at letting me go my own pace while still pushing me to work on stuff that is not as easy. He is honest and isn't uncomfortable telling me I didn't stay on beat. However, his criticism doesn't make you feel bad or like a hopeless musician. My rhythm playing has vastly improved since I started taking lessons from Alex."

Approach him with a new idea and he will immediately tap into his wealth of education, experience and provide you with his insight. How to Set the Right Goals for Learning Guitar

Learning the guitar is a great goal in itself - but you'll need to get more specific if you want to truly make some progress! Read on as Hillsboro, OR guitar teacher Geoff A. walks you through the goal-setting process...   For Beginners The first goal is getting the fingers of the fretting hand to cooperate in forming chords. I begin with E, A, G, C, B7, and D chords. Practice ten to fifteen minutes twice a day and understand: your fingers will hurt a few weeks until calluses form, depen …
