Students will learn how to express their thoughts, musically, on the ukulele. They will learn how to listen for ideas and use music literacy to interpret those ideas in a variety of contemporary genres.

About Joel

I started playing recognizable melodies on the piano at 18 months old. At that time I was told that I even had perfect pitch. By age 5, my mother started giving me classical, gospel, and improvisational lessons. I was one of her 50 students until my senior year in high school. Through elementary

Joel is clearly very passionate and well versed in the language and study of music, providing a solid foundation for anyone wanting to learn the dynamics of music and performance. He doesn’t just teach mechanics, he teaches you the how and the understanding so you come away with more than the knowledge of how to play a few songs. He tailors the curriculum and home practice around the student’s unique interests to blend enjoyment and knowledge in a way that keeps you excited about music!

Beginner to advanced.
Ukulele is a wonderful instrument. It's very easy to learn, portable, and it makes people smile. The ukulele has enjoyed a tremendous return to popularity over the last few years.
Ukulele lessons are mostly focused on learning chords. It doesn't take long at all to start learning songs. For those more ambitious players, there are plenty of more advanced techniques, such as fingerstyle.

After studying for several years under Joey Faust, I studied Jazz, Classical Guitar, and Music Theory at TCC in Fort Worth. Nick has done a great job with our 14 year old son! He has a great laid back style that is appreciated and keeps the lessons fun and engaging. Not only is he learning to play some of his favorite songs, but he is also getting ear training, music reading, picking, chord building, etc. We would highly recommend Nick!
Rachel
I would very highly recommend Nick as a guitar teacher. I've been taking lessons for five weeks and he has already helped me a lot with my technique. He has a great combination of the knowledge of a professional musician and also the patience and guidance of a very experienced teacher.

I also like that he is helping me with ear training. I've had previous experience with reading music, but he is really expanding my horizons with listening to music and trying to figure it out by using basic principles. This is a way to learn that I hadn't experience before in guitar lessons in the past, and I think it's a great way to learn.

I'm looking forward to many more lessons to come. This has really helped me to enjoy playing the guitar again!

Guitar Lessons
My teen daughter has been wanting to take guitar lessons for the last 3 years. Looking over Mr. Russo’s extensive qualifications, gave me pose in hiring him, after all she was so new she did not even know how to old a guitar, I figured he would be over kill. That plus the fact that he seems to tour a lot made me concerned that, once the pandemic receded he would be back to touring extensively, leaving us to find another teacher. I am glad I decided not to let my fear guide my decision because, he really is an excellent teacher. He put my teen who is people shy at rest, now you cannot tell her she is not the next Joni Mitchelle in the making. One of her favorite things to do after each of her lessons, is to FaceTime me(she is in boarding school) and enthusiastically show me what she is learning.

Carlos definitely earned a 5 star rating! Bought lessons for a friend as a gift after I watched a couple of his YouTube videos. Before and after bookong, he was communicative and flexible on scheduling. My friend just took her first lesson and could not contain her excitement! Said she learned more in 45 minutes than she had in for plus years. She plans to continue learning from him. Thanks Carlos!

Coming from piano, the guitar has always seemed daunting to me. Prior to my lessons with Carlos, I had tried to teach myself songs/chords without much luck. Fortunately for me, Carlos turned out to be an extremely patient, friendly and competent teacher - I immediately knew I’d be progressing quickly with him! His qualifications speak for themselves, but I can’t recommend Carlos enough.

One Easy Trick to Convert Guitar Chords to Ukulele Chords | TakeLessons

Are you trying to learn a song on ukulele but can only find guitar chords? I’ve played guitar all my life and have a collection of Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls. For my birthday a few years ago, my girlfriend bought me an electric Les Paul-style ukulele. I’d never played a uke before -- ever. I had to go online to even find out how to tune the thing! Undaunted, I discovered the standard tuning is from the top string G – C – E – A. The G string is thinner than the C string, sort …
