Oil Painting

For new students, I like to start with black and white painting, moving into simple color palettes, and working towards full color paintings. Along the way, learning different methods of creating perspective, depth, and texture.
For advanced students, we can focus on any of these areas to improve technique and gain new methods of rendering.

I am a musician and artist, with a wide breadth of skills to offer. I am a classically trained musician, with special expertise in music theory, cello and banjo.
I went to school for the fine arts, and I am an expert in drawing, oil and acrylic painting.
As a graduate of a liberal arts college and experienced academic tutor, I can provide tutoring for children, teens, and adult learning in general subject areas including Mathematics, English, and French.

Maurissa is clear, adaptable, and encouraging, which are helping me break down my own learning blocks and find ways in to get excited about a new challenge!
I highly recommend Maurissa for oil painting. She has taught me so much in only a few months. The lessons are targeted and efficient. She assesses where I need work and gives me exercises to practice on outside of class. Also, the location itself is an amazing building.
