Hi I’m Lauren! I'm an artist and creator of Explaurenarts. I've taught over 550 lessons on this platform and more on my own website!! I have been involved in the arts for almost 10 years now! I graduated May 2020 from the College of Saint Benedict with a bachelors degree in Art and Psychology. One of my goals is to spread the therapeutic attributes of art to those I cross paths with. I started becoming artistic in high school when I took my first painting class. I fell in love with art soon after that class ended and took drawing, photography, ceramics and eventually an independent study in art before I moved on to college. It followed me into the College of Saint Benedict where I learned how to paint realistic portraits of people and animals to still-life object paintings. I am very fond on painting realistically but always branch out to stay creative and expressive! I also love drawing, drawing with charcoal is very messy but so fun! Ask me about reductive charcoal drawings, these are my favorite. Lastly, I am extremely fond of pottery. I am able to teach handbuilding techniques if you have a local pottery kiln near you! Psychology is an interest of mine because I love working with people. I originally thought I would become an art therapist because I truly think art can ease and heal many things given the right atmosphere and attitude! Art is so powerful! Now my hope is to bring art to people in the same way but in less of a medical setting but rather in a classroom atmosphere or the comfort of your own home! I do prefer either online lessons or traveling to you because my studio space is limited. Also having your own materials for an online lesson will be required, if we meet in person I can bring materials if needed. Most clients wish to use their own based on their wishes for what they want to create. If you want to get creative and enjoy learning in a relaxing environment then you are in the right place!
