I am in New York City and accepting new students as well as reconnecting with anyone who wants to return.
I have two graduate degrees: one in Music and the other in Dance and Theater studies.
My undergraduate degree is from The Juilliard School, in Dance.

 I've taught children and grown ups for many years. I have a strong performing career and love the way teaching keeps me in a giving and learning place.

*** Lesson Details ***
With beginning students I am very laid back and patient and believe strongly that in the play of games and experiments technique will develop and manifest. As the student becomes more advanced I become more demanding as do the materials. 

As an Acting teacher I have the capacity to take students along all the way to professional and beyond. I'm a member of the Actors Studio, the performing unions and have studied since childhood at ACT and then all over the world including The National in London. 

For Dance, I have a wide knowledge and can teach several forms as well as history and materials.  I also teach Ballet and many forms of Modern Dance. I adore teaching dance composition. To help a dance student make their own dances is very fulfilling. I also teach choreography or composition. 
One of the aspects of dance composition that has recently captivated me is the composing of sound and music for the dance that is also being made. Using software, we can explore electroacoustic as well as language and text collage as sound score for your dance. It is super fun!!!

For the Visual Arts I teach Abstract Painting as well as Installation and Performance Art. 
*** Studio Equipment ***
I have supplies and space. Visual Art students need to contribute to materials by finding or purchasing whatever they like and adding to the mix. My students are welcome to use what I have here and I am always adding materials. Many people throw away materials that are perfectly good for art making so keep your eyes open and you'll find all kinds of good things. Visual Art students need to book a 2 hour minimum and I will lower the price if you just let me know you need it.

My fees: I start at a higher fee and after you've been a regular student we can lower the fee for you if you need.

In dance I teach classical ballet principles for beginners or those who are returning and want to work carefully and privately. I teach from the tradition of Alfredo Corvino's principles of relationship to organic forms and structures for sound development. I studied with Mr Corvino for years and continue to study with Ernesta Corvino.
For acting I teach a combination of classical acting technique with American sense memory and relaxation skills. I am well versed in the teachings of Lee Strasberg and then spent time in London to 'fill in the cracks' of my training with analytical skills as well as the various european influences that the Royal National embrace.
I teach creative discovery in combination with classical devices so the student can discover their own artistry while learning actual classical devices for accomplishing specific goals.

Creative movement and dance in improvisational forms. Learn to move from your heart and inner voice and feel yourself opening as you move about in new ways and with deeper meaning.

From 1992 -1993, I studied various modalities of health sciences and bodywork from The Swedish Institute in NYC. I specialized in Swedish Massage, in Zero-Balancing and in other modalities for bodywork. I also earned a State License in Massage from New York State in 1993. I no longer work as a therapist, choosing instead to focus on fine art and performing arts. I specialized in bodywork for pregnant women and spent a great amount of time in Hospitals and Birthing centers attending births. It was a most rewarding experience.

August 8th, 2016, attended my second and what will be an annual, Teachers Seminar on The Corvino Approach to ballet. Alfredo Corvino taught at Juilliard (and was my teacher). His daughters Andra and Ernesta continue that legacy. Ernesta Corvino is my mentor as I learn more and more, The Corvino Approach.

How to move around like a hungry for space dancer.  My teachers used to tell me to Eat Up Space.  We will learn how to make our own dances.  Vocabulary and Improv, Dynamic, Structure and Form.  Finding what it means to write a story or poem with your body's movement, the space it is inhabiting and of course, idea.

didn't know what to expect at all but what I found was a beautiful teacher with a beautiful soul and a wonderful way of helping me fill my cup with dance. Unique and emotional lesson. Can't recommend highly enough.

Gina is great! My 14 year old daughter loved her. She helped her work on several techniques and scenes in preparation for an audition. I would definitely recommend her for various levels of experience.

I have had the opportunity to learn acting with Gina and it has been great so far. When I signed up for the lessons, I signed up with Gina because of her credentials as I never had an encounter with her. From my first class itself she has taught me a lot about acting specially stage acting and that too with great enthusiasm. I now feel like pursuing it further. She is quite knowledgeable specially in her field and every moment that you are in the class with her, you are learning something new. Gina is amazingly dedicated, both to the material she teaches and to her students. She's knowledgeable and encouraging. I engaged her to teach ballet to me and a friend who was trying to use dance to work through some body issues. Gina navigated a tricky situation - two students at different levels, one with psychological barriers - beautifully, and we both learned loads. Definitely get her to teach you things!

Beyond expectations

From our first phone call, Gina became invested in my dance journey. From modern dance, to ballet and contemporary, Gina has guided me into a new world of performance and dance. Outside of our scheduled lessons, we are loosely collaborating on a creative project - something I thought was years away until I met Gina. She taught me tactical dance fundamentals while also helping me navigate the dance and theater scene in NYC. (with which she is very connected) The best thing for me was her flexibility with the learning process.
