After playing and studying for 20+ years and earning a Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance I stopped playing. Thirty years later, with the encouragement of friends, I began playing again. I rediscovered my passion. I want to share my experience, knowledge and journey with my students so they t

Song writing for me is a process.
To be able to go through the process, one has to have certain musical skills. If a song writer lacks those skills, I try to impart them with the missing elements. From there we learn to build a song from the ground up.

Come and play the violin! There is so much music out there, and if you can even sort of sing a melody, there is a way to get it into your fingers. If you are already playing and want to improve, or expand what you have, you can go for it!

1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.
My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!"
