Guitar is my main squeeze. I love to help people enjoy the instrument as much as I do. learn to shred a rock solo, fingerpick a folk song, or transcribe miles davis. learn to play what you hear on records without resorting to you tube instructional videos (wink). or if you are already an accomplished musician, enhance your ability to employ techniques like chord weaving on the guitar, craft better solos, write more sophisticated chord progressions, etc

Indigo is a fantastic teacher! I've taken lessons with Indigo both online (recently) and in-person (when I used to live in NYC). Indigo's teaching style really resonated with me - she provides incredible support and encouragement for beginners and her instruction has always helped me understand the weird nuances of singing and how to unlock my voice. She has also helped me with more advanced music theory/guitar during lesson to compliment the singing and help with songwriting. She also makes the online format work really well (which I can't imagine is easy) and I've always felt like the online lessons were as valuable/productive as the in-person lessons I took before I moved.

I have been self-taught for a couple years and felt very stuck, learning disjointed online material, but Indigo has absolutely put me on a musical path! It feels really empowering to finally start having a grasp on theory and technique. I highly recommend.

Indigo is a fantastic teacher! Able to speak to a variety of musical styles and elements of music - from songwriting, to guitar technique, to theory. Highly recommend

I can take you from absolute beginner to advanced player in most contemporary styles. I use real world examples of popular songs, techniques and many other sources from my 20 years of playing and performing experience. I also thoroughly enjoy teaching students about how to use their equipment efficiently (how to dial in certain tones/using amps, controls and electronics on their guitars, knowledge of pedals and effects, etc.)

Rock (including metal, hard, classic, latin, punk and practically any flavor of rock) guitar is my specialty but I can show you aspects of many other styles including but not limited to: blues, acoustic guitar, pop, modern country, and funk.

About Seth

I've taught students of all ages everything from popular songs to music theory, technique, all aspects of performing and bands, gear and equipment knowledge and much more. I approach every student differently and give them goals to reach that will help them in moving forward with their playing

Seth is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher. He uses his trained ear and skill in music theory to guide you through the instrument and constantly encourages you to try new things. He is very patient and is always willing to help you understand the lessons or techniques at hand. My name is Lenny W. and I am a guitar instructor at Musicians Institute. I have worked at the school for 15 years and seen many students come and go. Seth attended several of my classes for six months and also have seen him perform many times in the live performance workshop during his time at MI. Seth is a great person, and an accomplished guitarist. In his time at the school he was an exemplary student and developed greatly. I believe Seth would be a great teacher and endorse him for any position he applies for. Sincerely - Lenny W., MI Instructor

I have a degree in music, and have taught at three summer camps three music stores and two universities.

I have been teaching guitar since 1990. I teach ages 9 and up, and I aim to tailor lessons to work with your natural strengths and learning style.

I offer note-reading but it is optional. We can study guitar using tablature and chord diagrams. The important thing is to make great music, enjoy the process, play songs you like, make steady progress and become independent.

If I teach you well, eventually you won't need me very much- you'll be able to figure things out on your own,

I started playing guitar when I was 4. I've played classical, rock, a bit of jazz, folk, a little bluegrass, and fingerstyle. I love the guitar and I love teaching!

About Carla

Music is my LIFE! After more than 25 years of teaching at music camps, music stores, 3 colleges and my home, I completely understand that the lessons are all about YOU, the student: what you want to learn, taught to you in a way that works for your brain and personality. And if you don't know

Carla's teaching technique was perfect for me. I have played the guitar for longer than I care to admit and even I was tired of hearing my same old stuff. She incrementally moved me forward line by line, measure by measure to where I now have several fingerpicking style numbers in my portfolio.

Playing for my own enjoyment is now enjoyable once again.

My lessons were online and very effective - when I got stuck, Carla would send me a sample audio clip of her playing the difficult part which was a godsend for me in how I learn new musical things.

I highly recommend Carla and her Carlalology method of guitar teaching. You won't be disappointed.

Great teacher and she teaches many different styles of playing.

i originally selected carla as my instructor based on her skills, resume, other students comments etc. listed on the website. shortly after my lessons began i realized she was a vital resource for guidance, knowledge and material all of which would enable me to grow as a musician. she is talented, smart, inspirational, funny and more, what else could you ask for?!!!!

My tuition brings:

Personalized, well prepared, fun and practical lessons.

Continuation, each class builds on previously learned material.

Progress checks using memos taken during teaching.

My students know me for my patience, attention to detail, and positive reinforcement, but also equally for placing importance on the joy of learning.

I have been studying guitar privately for 27 years, have taught for 20 years and I am qualified to teach jazz/pop/rock guitar, improvisation, and theory. I graduated from the music performance program at Queensborough Community College. At Q.C.C. I was fortunate to receive formal training in ear training/ sight singing I-IV, music theory I-IV, convocation performance, performance juries, as well as receiving private lessons focused on jazz improvisation.

I majored in guitar performance concentrating on jazz improvisation but I also have been studying guitar privately for around 27 years with a strong emphasis on rock, blues, and pop.

Steve is teaching my son and we are both so happy with his teaching. My son is not a beginner and was looking for a teacher to help him take the next step on the guitar. They have been working on scales, intervals, improvisation, chords and more. I really appreciate how he gives my son clear instructions on what to review for the next class and then checks to make sure progress was made before moving on. Great teacher, highly recommend.

"Kyle is a great guitar teacher. He understands the theory as well as the mechanics of playing well. After I started taking lessons from him, I started to make consistent progress in my guitar playing, week after week. Before I started I could only play the most common open chords, and after a few months I can now play most bar chords, scales, how to find chords for the given key, transposing songs, and overall I understand the fretboard a lot better. We also work on arpeggiating, rhythm and other skills. I can recommend Kyle to anyone who wants to improve their guitar playing."

Why is My Guitar Feeding Back? A Guitar Feedback Guide

Does your guitar make a shrieking noise when you sing and play? Do you want to harness its power for good? Here, guitar instructor Zachary A. explains the phenomena of guitar feedback and how it can be manipulated to enhance your music... An Example of Feedback The first thing that comes to mind when I think of guitar feedback is Jerry Garcia, the guitarist for the Grateful Dead. Creating a paralyzing shriek, he manipulates guitar feedback in a wizardly fashion, pushing the boundaries of …
