The process of unlocking, discovering, and understanding your voice is an intimate and exciting process and I love to partner with my students on this journey. I have had incredible teachers in my life who have inspired me tremendously, and it is my goal to build a trusting relationship with my students in this same way. I truly believe that anybody can sing, and I realize how important it is that my students feel comfortable and safe trying out new things and expressing vulnerability.

Lessons will be completely individualized within the framework of learning a healthy vocal technique and a mix of healthy vocal repertoire. We will work together to meet your goals and find your unique voice. My experience is in working with children, teenagers, young adults and adults of all ages and backgrounds. We have worked on a wide range of vocal genres, styles, languages, repertoire and topics. I cannot wait to meet you!

As an active operatic soprano, opera is my pride and joy.

Marissa is an excellent teacher. She has been teaching my eleven-year-old who is just starting out with voice (and was feeling very nervous). Marissa did a great job of helping her feel at ease, and working with her. She says that Marissa is always kind and friendly and she's learning a lot.

My experience with Linda was great! I’ve only had one lesson with her but she was patient and understanding even though I was super nervous. She pushed me to do more and I’ve become more confident. I look forward to continue working with her :)

Linda is very dedicated teacher. I felt that she really listened to my voice and quickly charted a path forward to develop my technique, musicality, and most importantly a self awareness of pitch in my body.

"Erik is a fantastic voice teacher and is a wonderful person. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I have recently started voice lessons with Erik after a 10+ year break from singing opera and choral music, and I have learned so much from him already in the two moths we have been working together - posture, breathing techniques, analysis of the text and score, ....
Our lessons are well organized, very helpful, and a lot of fun. I look forward to my weekly lessons with Erik and hope to study with him for a long time."

"I started working with Michelle and Robert in mid-March. I clicked with them right away. Knowing that we only had about a month and a half before my audition date, we worked very diligently. They did a great job customizing my lessons to really prepare me for my audition. I had a couple of songs picked out and we began ironing out the details right away. Michelle and Robert knew exactly how to challenge me more and more each lesson. They quickly helped me to find my own unique and healthy sound that felt very comfortable. We not only focused on the music and the voice, but also stage presence, interview preparation, and acting out the pieces. I went into the audition feeling positively over-prepared. I was not only accepted into the program, but also offered a generous scholarship. Quickly after my audition we began working on new, more challenging pieces. I am very happy to have the opportunity to work with Michelle and Robert. I cannot thank them enough for all the hard work they put in for their students. I would definitely recommend studying with them for any serious vocalist looking to fine-tune their craft."

"Julian Kwok is a technician's technician. He can take large, unruly instruments and whisper them into efficiently wielded, marketable product. He can develop voices of any type to their full potential, but his specialty is, arguably, large voices. He expects a high level of commitment, so my advice: do the work. Doing the work will maximize your experience. He's keenly sensitive and understanding. If you're serious about a career and developing your voice in a healthy way, this is the guy."

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
