Hi! I’m Brian. I love cooking BBQ, watching the Muppets, hanging with my nieces, and I’m also really into teaching and playing music. In addition to playing and teaching the banjo and ukulele, I am also a Board Certified Music Therapist with a degree from Maryville University with an additional Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I founded my music school, Mimic Music based in St. Louis, in 2017.
 
I am qualified to and PASSIONATE ABOUT about helping YOU discover, meet, and exceed your musical goals. Whether it’s learning a new instrument because you want to explore a new hobby or returning to your instrument, I can help you! 
 
I cater to ALL AGES AND ABILITIES and have been teaching ONLINE since 2012. I am currently teaching over 30 students, across 4 time zones, between the ages of 9 and 81.  Together, we play anything from Bach to bluegrass to "We Don't Talk About Bruno"

AHOY!  

We will cover 3 songs:  "The Wellerman", "Yellow Submarine", and the theme song to "Sponge Bob Square Pants".  

Each song will introduce a new technique.  Students are welcome and ENCOURAGED to ask questions towards the end of our cruise.  Those not having fun will be forced to walk the plank.

BONUS POINTS for wearing pirate or cruise wear.

Brian is very responsive to my progress and the direction I want to go.

First meeting, easy to talk to Brian.  He is sending information for my future lessons.  I feel inspired.  Looking forward to the next lesson.

I have been trying to learn to play the banjo for about 6 months watching Youtube videos, I learned more in my first couple of minutes with Brian than I ever did on Youtube. 

Great personality and is encouraging. I did the 3 classes for 30 dollar special Takelessons put out and it was the best thing I could do to learn the Banjo. I am putting things together now in the yard and it is starting to sound like something, not just some guy picking strings.

Brian is an excellent teacher. We were able to dive right into the lesson and go through some techniques for me to practice on my own. It was obvious he knew what he was talking about ranging from music theory to instrument care. Highly recommend working with him if you want to learn the banjo.

Over 5 lessons in and Brian has proven to be knowledgeable, capable, and highly interested in helping me improve. He quickly zeroed in on my interests and puts effort into teaching the songs I like and styles I find fun. Every session feels streamlined and informative, leaving me excited to practice what I learned each time. My expectations have been greatly exceeded.

I love learning to play the ukulele! Brian is an excellent teacher. As I have a background in piano and some violin, Brian has helped me to integrate what I remember and apply it to the ukulele. He is friendly, interested, and patient. Most of all, he makes learning to play the ukulele fun! I highly recommend him for beginners on up!

Brian is fantastic.  He quickly got a sense of where I am and customized our lessons just for me.  Super knowledgeable, helpful and friendly!

Just finished up my first lesson with Brian. I'm an adult picking up the banjo for the first time. Brian was curious about where I wanted to go with the instrument; he was incredibly encouraging; he was patient, too. It's clear Brian loves the music, too, and his enthusiasm for teaching was clear. I'm looking forward to learning more in the months and years ahead.

Brian is a great instructor.  Perfect mix of easy going and knowledgeable.  Im really happy with my progress and I'm feeling confident that I'm on the right path.  If you want to learn but you're on the fence about taking lessons, make the move.  Also the online format is working well, I was worried about that but pleasantly surprised.
