I believe in teaching all aspects of musicianship when learning an instrument such as music theory, ear training, and singing, just to name a few. I have been private teaching for more than 8 years and I specialize in trombone, music theory/ear training, and piano lessons and have taught a variety of levels. I provide a very inviting environment for students to learn and grow.

Renewing my love with the sound of this horn after many years without the time is a joy with Alexis guiding and instructing me. The pace is steady and there is good  variety in music and methods that she uses. She has a great gift of seeing the areas and techniques that need correction and will not hesitate to bring those to your attention. More than one year after starting with my daughter, Alexis  is more than an instructor, she is an important role model and guide.  Every lesson is clearly a personal and customized experience based on my daughter's ever-improving skill level as well as her unique learning style and learning challenges.  More than even learning specific skills, i seee my daughter learning HOW to learn in ways she hadn't been willing to try before because Alexis asked her to do so.  This has been a fantastic learning and growth experience for us and we appreciate all the effort, both mentally and emotionally, that Alexis puts into each and every virtual-visit to our home.

Alexis is an energetic, thoughtful and patient teacher.  My 9-year-old son loves his weekly lessons with her.  He is a beginner trombone student and is progressing at an amazing rate.  Alexis is very encouraging and helps him to really stretch and grow each week.  I would highly recommend Alexis as a teacher.
