Mike's System for teaching drums and percussion. 
Mike has found the most comprehensive snare drum method available that simultaneously provides instruction for rhythm reading, technique fundamentals, rudimental training, coordination and musicianship necessary for today’s well rounded percussionist! The downloadable play-along tracks makes practicing fun by utilizing percussion instruments and grooves from around the world.
​For mallet players Mike uses a logical approach for developing music reading skills, technique and musicianship on the keyboard percussion instruments. Students will have fun playing songs along with the play-along tracks which feature REAL percussionists performing ensemble arrangements – none of the cheesy midi computer sounds that you hear from so many other books
What Mike's System is not. 
It is not a status quo model which neglects the need for musical performance. It’s not an unethical or manipulative process. It does not rely on or use power and leverage tactics to trick or bully, and it’s not something you can become an expert in overnight. It is hard work because it challenges your mindset and habits. You do have to be comfortable operating outside of your comfort zone. As coaches of the system, we are responsible for helping you discover there is a logical way of learning to play and instrument.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Mike O. and I have been teaching music for (Gulp) nearly 30 years! I have a BFA in music and have taken over 30 professional courses to maintain my teaching certification in the state of Maryland! While my primary instrument is percussion, I also play Ukulele, Guitar, Woodwinds, and Brass. I am a professional educator and have the experience to back it up. Many of my students have gone on to study music at the university level and beyond. While skill is important to me, having a great attitude and an understanding of what the student needs are have brought me here. I'm on TakeLessons to interact with the younger student that isn't interested in making music their profession, but just want to have FUN! I can't wait to connect with you and your family and start our journey together!
