John is the man! I've only had three lessons thus far, but have learned a ton. He is very knowledgeable, and has done a great job catering to my skill level (intermediate).

John is an excellent teacher. I’m a real beginner, and , instead of acting bored with my level of “playing”, he was very encouraging. His instruction is clear and precise. He had me transitioning between four different chords in my first half hour! So pleased!
Jane
It was a No-Pressure first lesson so I’m looking forward to the next one.

Music theory is an essential part of music making, whether one is reading sheet music or learning by ear. Through two degrees in music (my BA in music from the Oberlin Conservatory and MM in music from the Peabody Conservatory), I have taken over 40 credits of advanced music theory classes. My teaching caters to all levels, and is specialized to fit each student.

absolutely wonderful.
Ozge Y.
She encourages, she finds analogies to explain, she is more patient with me then I am with myself. She also explains the terms, gives tips on how to read the notes. She is able to identify the mistakes and give the right advice on how to improve. Her advice on how to practice made all the difference for me. I started with a giant cookie bite sized embouchure and within a few lessons I have managed to make it smaller thanks to her instructions. There is hope for me afterall.
Looking forward to playing a duet with her without me making a mess. Thank you Amanda!
Mike
Amanda is an outstanding teacher. She inspires and challenges me to play pieces I did not think I could play. She is able to take difficult passages and break them down step my step so I can learn how to play them properly. I am sure I would not be playing as I am now, if it weren’t for Amanda’s skilled teaching. She is also friendly, makes the lessons interesting and fun and is very professional. I have taken lessons both in person and on Skype and she excels in both modes.

"Within the first lesson it was obvious how much Scott is passionate about playing music and helping other musicians succeed. What I really liked about Scott was that he didn't beat around the bush when it came to finding areas that I could improve upon, but in the same respect, he made sure he celebrated the successes and progress being made. That's the kind of teacher that can motivate someone to improve and feel fulfilled after the hard work being put into a craft. I unfortunately had to stop taking lessons due to outside circumstances and if I got the opportunity I would take more lessons with Scott."

"As a novice piano playing student, I was introduced to reading music as well as playing the piano by Buzz Amato, a great pianist and instructor. I would be remiss if I did not share how wonderful my piano lessons have been under the many talents Buzz offers as a piano instructor. His ability to convey concepts/theories of piano playing into understandable and applicable practice has made my learning experience enjoyable. Buzz is a good listener, very patient and observant, and acquires an innate gift to teach piano playing in ways that encourage me to continue my lessons. Buzz is a highly skilled piano instructor."
