I have been teaching dance for about 4 years now. I have taught ages 3 to 20 years old. I have danced since I was 4. I also did gymnastics. I do not have a dance room in my house, and my classroom is occupied, so for dance, it would have to be at another location. I teach different styles. I prefer to teach elementary/middle school students. I do enjoy young children. It is hard for them to focus. My goal is for the dance student to feel confident while dancing, and learn dance technique.

About Meagan
Hello, my name is Meagan D., and I recently moved to the Washington, DC area from Michigan. I attended Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI. I got my Bachelor's of Science Degree, and a Michigan's Provisional Teacher's Certificate. My major was Mathematics Teaching and Elementary Education. I have taught students from 2 years old to college students. I am certified to teach Kindergarten through 5th grade all subjects, 6th through 8th grade math, or Kindergarten through 8th grade all subjects self contained. I taught 5th grade in Tanzania, and student taught 4th grade in Mexico. This past year, I taught 4th grade math, reading, language arts, science, and religion.

It was my daughter's first contact with professional acting.
She has been talking about being an actress for quite a while now, so we decided to let her take a few lessons to see if she likes it.
Ollie was really comprehensive of our needs and made us see the big picture of that world... just what we needed, to start walking into that direction on the right path.
My daughter had a wonderful time with Ollie.

I booked 4 acting sessions with Ms. Ollie for my daughter. Ms. Ollie did a phenomenal job starting from scratch, coaching my daughter for her up coming audition. My daughter had no acting experience, she was shy, and soft spoken but in just 4 short days, Ms. Ollie turned her into a confident, outspoken young actress. My daughter nailed her audition thanks to Ollie!! I will highly recommend her as your acting coach.

Dancing since the age of 3, I'd love to spark the passion of dance in anyone that's interested! With a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Ballet Pedagogy (the art or science of teaching) this is what I've trained to do.

I specialize in Ballet, Modern and Jazz ages 5-18 beginner to advanced students. I focus on strong foundations in technique and musicality. I am also comfortable choreographing solo work for auditions.

About Sara
Hello! I'm Sara!

I started dancing at the age of 3. I am well versed in Ballet, Modern and Jazz. I attended Joffrey San Antonio (2004) and Paul Taylor New York (2010) intensives.

While in high school I taught Ballet, Jazz, Pre-Pointe and Pointe classes to dancers age 3-14.

In 2011 I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Pedagogy (which is the art or science of teaching).

Since moving to NYC 5 years ago I have been focused on performing with such dance companies as Exit 12 Dance Company (2011-2012) and Community Dance Project (2013-2014). While not dancing with specific companies I have choreographed and danced in two music videos.

I can't express my love for teaching enough! To know that I could help spark the passion of dance in a young person is extremely inspiring.

Please inc
lude your area and availability in your messages!

I would prefer to teach students with professional or aerobic goals. Social dancing is not one of my subjects.

We (my grand daughter and I ) did not know what to expect. I did try to prepare by having the room and computer ready and by making notes about what G needed to review. Sara is an excellent teacher and started with a warm up that included feet. G is a full time gymnast and her Achilles had been tight and sore and this was very beneficial. Sara had G doing basic barre work, then she worked on her musicality, progressions and turns. It provided G with the correction and attention that she cannot receive in her regular ballet class and best of all we were able to stay home. It is great for my grand daughter's situation because she does not have to commute one more time in the week. Visually Sara made corrections as G was doing her movement, that is a testament to Sara's professionalism, expertise and training. It also shows that even a technology deficient grandmother can make this work.

ALOHA!
If your looking to learn about basic Hawaiian song, dance and language then I can teach you. I started dancing since I was 4 yrs old, teaching since I was 13 as well as educating myself by those who are willing to teach me and now I am an instructor for Manaia 'Ohana Design and Production where I teach polynesian performing arts. My aloha (love) for my culture has taken me to many places around the U.S., as well as British Columbia and as far as Tokyo, Japan. I am excited to be able to share and teach you the basic language, history and dance of the Hawai'i.

About Patience
Aloha!๐ŸŒด My english name is Patience but I also have a Hawaiian name. POMAIKA'I. If you don't know how to pronounce that, I'll give you a free Hawaiian language lesson right now. Exciting already right! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค™๐Ÿฝ

Po- as in the movie Kung Fu Panda๐Ÿผ
mai- as in the English word My
ka- as in Karate class, Ka ๐Ÿฅ‹
And the last letter "i" makes the long "E" sound. As in Eek! Or "ey" in key. So let's put it together and you get
Po-my-Ka-Eee - Pomaika'i which means blessings.

You've already learned some hawaiian. Now imagine not only learning how to speak Hawaiian but how to dance it as well. You can't have dancing without knowing how to speak it as well as knowing what your dancing about. No tourist attraction here, just real culture. I'm excited to share and teach you some hula! So let's get started ๐ŸŒบ

I'm not naturally coordinated in dancing much less for paired dancing, for that reason I was apprehensive and anxious about bachata dance lessons with kimmy. At the end of the first lesson I left feeling having learnt new moves and confident about using them. Kimmy is skilled and knowledgeable about teaching dance because the pace is not rushed, she provides appropriate cues and thoughtful commendations!

Enrolling in private dance lessons is a great way to build on existing technique and training or start from scratch to build a strong technical foundation. I have 4 year of experience teaching ballet, tap, jazz, and modern/contemporary at a successful competition studio and over 6 year experience teaching private lessons. So whether you're looking for an instructor to take your skills to the competition world or simply learn for exercise, I can tailor a curriculum to meet your individual needs.
I want my students to have a strong technical basis, but also grow in confidence, artistry, self-discipline, and self-expression.

About Hannah
Dance has been a part of my life for 20 years! I began lessons when I was in kindergarten and it was love at first sight. I danced and competed through high school but a series of injuries kept me from pursuing a professional career in college. Instead, I pursued a degree in history while teaching for a local competition studio. My dancers frequently placed top 10 in the national circuit and my choreography and costume designs received several awards.

During college, I discovered theatre and began to merge my love of self-expression and story telling with the dance technique I had practiced for so long. This helped me discover a unique and personalized style of choreography that gave me opportunity to help my students develop not only a love of dance, but also confidence, healthy self-expression, and communication skills.

After
college, I worked towards my MA in War, Media, and Society while continuing to do freelance choreography. After moving to DC in 2016 to work as a legislative assistant, I missed dance too much and knew I needed to find a way to fit it into my life! I began teaching private ballet and creative movement classes for my first client and absolutely loved being able to share my knowledge and love for this art form on a one-on-one basis with my students.

I have 5 years of experience teaching beginner ballet and creative movement, and 4 years teaching the following: ballet for ages 5-18, pointe for ages 13-18, jazz & musical theatre for ages 5-18, and tap for ages 5-12. I have a wide variety of choreography experience for solo, duet, trio, small, and large groups of all ages in ballet, pointe, contemporary, and character jazz.

I believe teaching dance is so much more than pointing toes and making beautiful lines (although those things are certainly important). I want to help my students develop important life skills, communicate feelings through movement, and learn to use the art of dance as a healthy outlet for stress and communication.

As a professional dancer/vocalist, I love to take what I've learned over the past 20 years and help to cultivate into smart, engaging perfomers. I have been trained in all styles, but believe a foundation in ballet technique is very important. I offer private lessons to improve dance ability, as well as choreography for solos or group numbers.

About Carly
Hi I'm Carly! I've loved performing for as long as I can remember and it is my goal to help my students, both children and adults, find that same love and confidence to become the best performers they can be. Both singing and dancing take a lot of work, but can bring so much joy and satisfaction at the same time. This makes the work and dedication so worth it!
