I am a full-time professional dancer who has performed nationally and internationally including the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, DC's City Rhythms Festival, the VelocityDC Festival, as well as others. In my dance lessons, students will strengthen their technique, creativity, individuality and showmanship through a warm-up, movement activities, and challenging movement combinations. Students will increase their knowledge and physical vocabulary and leave each lesson a better dancer, performer and person. In the midst of learning students will also be required to have fun! I am able to teach ballet, modern, jazz, step and gumboot dancing.

About Briana
Briana has enjoyed teaching since she was a teaching assistant at Detroit Windsor Dance Academy, her high school dance studio. Since then she has taught students within Washington DC Public Schools, the University of Michigan Recreation Center, the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, Morton Street Dance Center, District Dance Arts, as well as many other studios and non-profit organizations. Teaching allows her to express herself, pass on her knowledge and experiences and inspire students to develop their technique, creativity, individuality and showmanship.

There is never a dull moment in Briana’s classes! Her specific classes and lesson plans are catered to specific age groups from Pre-K to adults. They consist of engaging movement activities, warm-up, and complex movement combinations. She is an energetic and patient teacher who seriously
takes into account the needs and skill level of the student in preparing her lesson plans and material.

Briana’s use of dance vocabulary and physical demonstrations allow her to teach the material accurately and effectively. Her positive attitude and constant words of encouragement keep students motivated and engaged in the lesson. Students will increase their knowledge and physical vocabulary of the movement style and leave each lesson a better dancer, performer and person.

She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance and Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan in May of 2013 and has had a wide range of professional experience. She has worked with and performed works by modern dance choreographers such as Lindsey Merchant, Melissa Beck, Germaul Barnes, Jessica Fogel, Christopher Huggins, Shen Wei and Dianne McIntyre. She was artistic director of a chapter of the international hip-hop dance company Dance2XS International.

Briana was a full-time company member with StepAfrika!, a professional stepping company in Washington, DC from 2013-2015 and currently, she is working with CityDance resident artist S.J. Ewing & Dancers. Briana has had the privilege of performing at DC's City Rhythms Festival, Catholic Universities Hartke Theater, the Hill Center, the VelocityDC Festival, the Guantanomo Bay Naval Base as well as others. Recently she was invited to perform a modern dance solo in Dance Place’s 2014 New Releases Choreographers Showcase and Joy of Motions 2014 Dance Project Concert. Most recently, she served as the assistant choreographer on the American Theater’s Company’s production of The Project(s) in Chicago, IL, rated 4 stars by the Chicago Tribune. Most recently, she collaborated with Hard Soles Dance Company on a new piece titled “Re:set”, combining contemporary dance and body percussion, for the 2016 March on Washington Film Festival in honor of the 70th anniversary of the integration of the NFL and was chosen as Dance Place's 2016 New Releases Commission Recipient in support her new work to be premiered the summer of 2017.

Briana encourages students to bring writing materials to each lesson to take notes for any learned vocabulary and each lesson will follow with a recorded video of the movement for the students to refer to until the next lesson.

I'm extremely new to ballet and dance in general (for reference I'm 16). Briana was very patient and an amazing teacher! Very friendly and welcoming while still being very professional. It's great to get the exact corrections I need without feeling bad about it and yet still work on it until proper. Very happy and pleased!

It was my daughter's first contact with professional acting.
She has been talking about being an actress for quite a while now, so we decided to let her take a few lessons to see if she likes it.
Ollie was really comprehensive of our needs and made us see the big picture of that world... just what we needed, to start walking into that direction on the right path.
My daughter had a wonderful time with Ollie.

My daughter nailed her audition thanks to Ollie!! I will highly recommend her as your acting coach.

My name is Darren. I am a part of the dance crew the Kinjaz from NBC's World of Dance and America's Best Dance Crew Season 8, and I specialize in teaching Basic Hip Hop and Breakin'/Breakdancing.

Here is what you can expect from our lessons together...

On the day we have our lesson you will either travel to my location (Glendale) where our lesson will take place in my loft or I can travel to your location and we will have our lesson at your location (there is a travel fee if you are located more then 5 miles away)

Our lesson will consist of basic dance movements to teach you the basics and foundation you need to know in order to learn choreography and freestyle on your own. You will also learn a small combination or drill utilizing those movements so you can practice them on your own.

After our lesson, you will receive a video tutorial on the movements you were taught so you can refer back to it in case you forget any details.

You will also be able to send me a video ...

About Darren
Darren R. Wong is a member of The Kinjaz from NBC's World of Dance and has been teaching, performing and choreographing in the Hip Hop community for 13 years.

He has also been a part of world-renowned Hip Hop organizations such as Culture Shock LA and Kaba Modern and spent 4 years on the faculty of the Claire Trevor School School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine as an adjunct lecturer of Breakin'.

He has been sharing his experience and knowledge by teaching and training dancers of all skill levels, from college performing arts programs, dance studios and online students from around the world, how to break with the knowledge that he has been fortunate enough to gain.

Darren's goal is to share what dance has given him in his life by providing in person or online dance courses for up and coming dancers who may b
e intimidated or self-conscious to start dancing or do not have access to experienced teachers or a dance studio with classes that interest them around them.

His courses allow both new and experienced dancers from all over the world to have access to an experienced teacher who understands the ins and outs of how to break down movements to its simplest form, so a student can confidently learn a movement with correct technique, execute them to music and piece them together to create their own combinations whenever and wherever without having to step foot into a studio.

He aspires not only to help those in his local dance community, but also dance communities worldwide who may not have direct access to the techniques and knowledge that was shared with him.

Ureka showed great enthusiasm, personality, and clarity. Her moves are graceful to watch and try to emulate. Verbal cues for cadence and emphasis are very helpful. Bringing her husband in to demonstrate partner moves brought it all together. My wife and I had great fun on this first lesson in preparation for our son's wedding!

Did you know that all the intelligence you need to learn how to dance already exists in your body? This is what makes me unique as a teacher; I will help you access the innate intelligence of YOUR body so you can become more masterful at whatever kind of movement form you're interested in. I teach this principle by guiding you through the process of becoming familiar with your unique movement language-how your body wants to express itself through movement. We as humans are such complex beings and I will help you access and express the intrinsic facets of yourself that can only be expressed through your body and through your movement.

About Rebecca
"If you listen closely enough, the voice of sensation will speak, and with practice, you can learn to follow its guidance toward balance, harmony and expressivity in your body; you can learn to speak a language that can only be expressed with movement." ~Rebecca Bone

As an improvisational dance artist, teacher and facilitator, Rebecca Bone is guided by this voice inside herself and is passionate about teaching others how to hear and follow their own voice of sensation.

After a formal dance training in Modern, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz and Folk forms, Rebecca followed her fervor for dance across the globe to study with teachers in somatic and movement based forms of Contact Improvisation, Axis Syllabus, Body Mind Centering, Functional and Developmental movement, Gaga and Physical Theater. While each training added depth and breadth
to Rebecca’s skill as a mover and performer, she still found herself yearning for something more. This eventually lead her back to herself, alone in the dance studio, asking the question, "Body, how do YOU want to move today?" and this is where she found what she was searching for.

Keomi gives a great cardio workout where you really sweat yet the class is so fun that you don’t notice how hard you are working!
You WILL learn many classic hip hop moves which Keo strings together to make a sexy/cool but accessible choreography. You come out of class feeling blissed - both for the vigorous workout and for accomplishing the dance moves! This is a great class for all levels.
