The most important thing to me is to keep the student interested and engaged in the lessons. This way learning guitar is easy and fun, not a struggle. A great place to start is by learning songs you enjoy listening to. Then later moving on, applying theory and scales to the songs we have learned.

About Sam

Hi! I'm a recent graduate of Berklee College of music where I majored in professional music. This included music theory and guitar instruction, as well as reading and writing music notation and charts in different styles. I also play frequently, including shows at The 9:30 Club, The Howard Theater

Sam is great! He is attentive and great with my 9 yo. He is also flexible and easy to schedule. We plan to continue in-home guitar lessons with him for a foreseeable future.

Terrible experience. I bought a package of 20 lessons for my 9yo nephew. He looked forward to it ever day from Xmas to the first week of January. Sam canceled the first lesson only 2hours prior its beginning. Then canceled the second lesson 10 minutes before he was supposed to be there because he “forgot” he had a “recording session today”. During the only lesson my nephew had, Sam didn’t show any ability to tailor a lesson to a child. Instead he gave him a pick, which dismayed me, and taught him a rock song we never heard of.
When I contacted the company they were very nice about it but I had to challenge their vetting process of teachers.
Dara
It was an excellent lesson! I really learned a lot from it. I was able to learn one song and start on a second on my first lesson only! Definitely recommend Sam to anyone thinking about picking up the guitar!

Our son first time playing bassoon. Base on my son experience, he find Joshua to be very nice, patients, and explains a lot of information. It help him understand about the instrument and the sound when he play. He do have a sense of humor which help my son to have fun and be more comfortable. He also teaches other instruments, too. Highly recommended to everyone!!!!

"Eric is one of the raddest dudes out there teaching. If you want your guitar playing to attract lots of hot babes into your life and make you feel like a rock star, then book your lesson with Eric. He was patient and attentive as I asked him many weird noob questions worthy of a few eye rolls. He understood my struggles, and sent me away with lots of homework to help me progress with my playing and technique. There’s never a short supply of wisdom and knowledge coming from this guy. I’m looking forward to learning more."

"Versatile teacher dedicated to aiding you in developing your sound and understanding the things you hear in music in your daily life.

Alex is an excellent guitar teacher. His approach to teaching guitar and theory is fun and personalized. He assesed my playing, identified my strengths and weaknesses, and asked me what my goals were and what i expected to gain from taking private lessons. Then he tailored lessons to suit my individual needs and wants. Alex makes it a priority for me to recognize and develop my personal sound so i can better express myself musicaly both as an artist and a human being. Also the way he teaches theory is effective because he immediately shows its applicability. Most importantly Alex encourages me to take what I learn to the next level and challenge myself which is a habit that should be utilized in your study of music as well as you every day life. His consistancy, professionalism and overall positive attitude makes for a promising learning environment."

"Rock players: learn something about Jazz!

I came to Jeff as a rock player with /some/ skill, but stuck in the "pentatonic box". Jeff introduced me to the infinite possibilities of Jazz. I wasn't the most diligent student in the world, and even still, I learned some of the basics: how to read a lead sheet, how Jazz maps to the electric guitar, how to play faster, and /when/ to play faster. Jeff introduced me to some essential figures from the Jazz canon: Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Jobim. In retrospect, the most important takeaway from "Jeff lessons" was ear training. He has a clever set of techniques for learning to hear and recognize intervals. Take lessons with Jeff and you'll learn how build chords, and to easily pick apart a piece of music and transcribe it. On top of all that, he's a pretty cool guy. :) Solid gold!"

Eric, is a wonderful guy to work with. He is thorough and goes above an beyond the call of duty. I could tell that he really cared about what he was teaching me and WANTED me to be the best I could be. He is ultra genuine and down to earth. Everything I learned from him has been vital in the paid gigs I've received as a guitarist and also in my own passion projects."

"Mark is a fantastic teacher. He is very patient and positive at all times. My teenage daughter and I both take lessons and he is very comfortable with our different learning styles and speeds. I particularly appreciate his focus on teaching from real songs. His attention to detail is great and I am always impressed that he is teaching us to listen and decode the chords, the strums and subtle little moments in the music. I highly recommend Mark - even for 50-something beginners like myself."
