My methods vary from student to student. I focus primarily on ear training, applications of chord construction to learning solo's, songs, and chords, and reading guitar tablature when a student is lost. I believe guitar is an especially creative instrument and do NOT focus on reading sheet music as a part of the student's learning experience. An emphasis is also placed on performance as well as proper technique to avoid injuries. Listening to music is an extra-curricular activity that should be done every day with a special emphasis on hearing what the 'greats' do with a magnificent piece of wood in their hands.

About Greg

I have been playing guitar for over 14 years, played in four different gigging bands ranging from country to jazz to improvisational funk. I taught music theory, guitar, and bass at M.E.A. Music in Lexington Park, Maryland for 3 years and currently teach and manage at the School of Rock in Arnold.

"Ben is an amazing guitar teacher who is patient and always willing to work with a busy schedule. As a senior in high school, many things pop up and we are always able to work around it. His lessons are based around what the students want to learn and he always finds a way to accomplish it. He has a great deal of knowledge in music theory and has helped me many times stay ahead in my music theory class in school and more importantly how to tie it in musically. As a performing musician as well, he has experience and other bits of wisdom about music and beyond that he can/will share and has which I feel is important as well."

Great guy, great teacher. Took the time and focused on me during the entire lesson. Geared the lessons specifically for me and my interests and tastes in music. Took a personal interest in me as a person and encouraged me to practice and to explore all the different things I could do with my talent. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Very reasonably priced for all that you get out of the lessons."

"Keith is definitely a great teacher! He knows all the theory but he uses it the very best way....to teach you to PLAY the guitar. Everything is directed at PLAYING the guitar. No time is wasted on "nice to know" vs "need to know." He's always been in a band (as he is right now) so he knows the ins and outs of actually playing the instrument. No fluff....just learning."
