I teach general piano lessons since 2010.With every new student our mutual journey into the world of music begins from the very basic stage; we begin with discussing student's proper sitting position at the instrument, basic introduction sessions on the general buildup of the instrument, its keyboard layout, and proceed, gradually, to the notation symbols on the music staff introduction to the student. Through the diligent preliminary talk we will discuss various aspects of interest that my students have developed in relation to playing piano, so we could plan and design our future lessons according to an initial discussion. My job and responsibility will be to make an intelligent assessment of my students' natural abilities for the given subject of study, to create vigorous learning atmosphere during our meetings, and to give my students professional instructions to the best of my humble abilities, for the benefits of their musical , aesthetic, and personal development. About Vasiliy
Hello,
I am Vasiliy M, Boston University School of Music Alumnus (DMA in Composition). We dwell in Boston since Fall 2002; before that time , we lived in New York, where I studied Composition at Mannes College, The New School For Music. I received both BM, and MM degrees from Mannes in 1999, and 2001, respectively. Before an arrival to US, in 1994, I studied Jazz Performance, Electric Bass Major, and Classical Composition, at Moldova State Conservatory, from 1988 to 1993, respectively.
I was raised in the family, where music is an essential part of its daily life; my father, Grigoriy, before his retirement, was a military band trombone player, and, quite naturally, I was exposed to music, and encouraged by my parents to learn playing an instrument of my choice, from my early childhood.
My mother, Anisia Kondrat'ievna,
possesses both beautiful vocal abilities and perfect pitch , although she has never had a chance to develop her natural gifts any further. But I have heard my mother singing, and these moments remain one of the most touching and impressive musical experiences, that I have ever received, and remember to this very day.
Only after a considerable life experiences, abound of trials and mistakes, at the age of twenty five, I have come to a clear realization, that music remains my greatest passion, and that I would have to become a professional musician. With help and support of friends and colleagues, I have entered Community College in Soroki city, Moldova Republic, where I have studied Choral Conducting for Amateurs. I have graduated from school in May of 1988, having written a few instrumental and vocal compositions of my own, and, quite unexpectedly for myself, was invited, that summer, to visit Moldova State Conservatory, with the prospect of audition for the Composition Major. After the meeting with the Chair of the Department, I was offered an opportunity to be accepted to the Master Degree Program in Composition, provided I will have completed two years of preliminary studies of Music Theory, Music Harmony/Voice Leading, and many other related disciplines.
Why do I bring all of these facts to this Essay? I know for the fact now, that I was not ready for what was awaiting ahead of me, back then. There was no way, that I could cope with the demands of Composition Program curriculum. But I have had love for music, that my parents have implemented in me throughout my childhood; I have had natural abilities, that Heavens supplied me with: and I have had a chance to make my dream a reality, providing I do everything that I will have to, during the following years of struggles and study.
The decision was made, and my studies have begun. I have come through every mistake, defeat, and mind-barriers imaginable, and if it would not be a continuous stream of professional help and support, that I have received from my numerous teachers, mentors, and professors, along the years of study, my goals could never be attained to any modest, but real degree.
Whenever I have a chance to teach, tutor, or assist other musicians with their study, my past experience always reminds me, that any person may experience some difficulties of various nature with the learning material, from time to time, and that those difficulties should be addressed by student's teacher with the highly individual approach, however time-and effort-consuming it may be. Patience and respect, in regard to the students, have become as important aspects of teaching to me, as those of discipline and professionalism.
My studies have come to an end; I see now, that the world of music is an endless entity, for it has no boundaries, and we all have to maintain our further progress, in order to move to our chosen destinations, and to help others with their own advancements.

Sincerely
Vasiliy M.

I would be more than willing to assist my prospective students with their various musical endeavors, and people's willingness to either play music instruments, take voice lessons, or to study Music Theory/ Musicianship disciplines will serve us as a starting point for our work. Through the diligent preliminary talk we will discuss various aspects of interest that my students have developed in relation to music, so we could plan and design our future lessons according to an initial discussion. My job and responsibility will be to make an intelligent assessment of my students' natural abilities for the given subject of study, to create vigorous learning atmosphere during our meetings, and to give my students professional instructions to the best of my humble abilities, for the benefits of their musical , aesthetic, and personal development. I will encourage my students to learn as much as they can, at the given moment, but I will not ever attempt to exceed people's natural capabilities. Participation in Music with love and fun should be as rewarding and valuable to the music amateur, as professional performing career ( with its highly demanding standards) stands for classically trained musicians. During our study sessions, we will work upon the goals and tasks that we have discussed at the beginning of our meetings. My ultimate goal as a teacher was and will always be to help my students discover and bring forward their best creative potentials through the intensive musical studies and practice, and, at the same time, to favor heir initial interest's transformation into a deep, serious passion.

Vasiliy is not only kind and patience but also very cooperative. He always remind me of taking things slow and building up a strong foundation rather than rushing through the music sheets. We work really hard in each lesson so far, and he makes me feel more and more engaged with the piano. Would strongly recommend him, especially if you need someone to correct your forms.

Hello, I've been playing piano and keyboard instruments for 25 years, and teaching for 15. More then just a teacher, I like to instill a smart and patient approach to learning. Every student has different needs and desires, and it's important to have a flexible teacher with the experience required to motivate students and play to their strengths!

About Aaron
Berklee College of Music graduate, Aaron M., has been teaching students of all ages for over 15 years.
"I love watching young musicians grow into seasoned players and have had tremendous success with all my students. I believe that learning songs and playing music is a critical element in the learning process of becoming a good drummer/pianist, and musician. This is why I bring a powered PA speaker, mp3 player, and (sometimes) a guitar to my lessons for the student to play along with and learn familiar songs. Over the years I've learned to strike a balance between Reading/Rudiments and Playing/having fun, so as to maintain students interests and growth."

My boys, ages 7 & 5, started piano lessons with Aaron a year ago. He has taught them technique & theory all while using songs they boys love. There are days that the boys are not the most cooperative. Aaron is amazingly patient and persistent in getting the boys to do their lessons. I really appreciate and have learned from this patience when it comes to the nightly practicing. I am pleased that the boys have been working with a male teacher and I think it really helps them relate to the music and the lessons. If you are looking for a patient yet knowledgeable piano teacher, I would definitely recommend Aaron.

When it comes to piano, I feel that the hardest aspect to success is the student's ability to read. I emphasize proper technique and the ability to correctly know what it is the music is asking for in the performance.

About Frankie
In addition to being a Berklee College of Music Graduate, I have a Masters in Music Education, and currently completing my Doctorate in Music Education from Boston University, I have been playing for over 30 years.

Lessons are written and tailored to you. I use music, printouts, and instructional material to make sure you progress as you should.

I have spots available every day of the week, so I'm confident that we can find something that works for both of us.

I know that learning to play any style of music whether it be Jazz, Blues, Soul, Motown, Funk, or Rock is a challenge, but with help from an experienced educator, your instrument becomes a rewarding lifelong enjoyment.

Please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to speak with you regarding any questions you may have.

About Inna
Hello, and thank you for your interest!

My name is Inna, I'm a jazz and world vocalist, pianist and composer.

I come from family of musicians, and I have started exploring music since the age of 5. In addition to my classical studies in Russia, I won the only full tuition scholarship to study in famous Berklee College of Music in the competition that took place during Berklee Asia Scholarship Tour in 2010.

In Berklee I was deeply influenced and moved by Eastern European and Middle Eastern music, which lead to experimentations in fusing those genres with modal jazz and then later rock.

I studied Vocal Performance, and Contemporary Writing and Production, and I have over a decade of experience in teaching, and performing, so I look forward to working with you to develop your voice, piano, and composing/arranging skills!

I’ve been classicslly trained in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, one of the best places in the world where one can learn how to be a musician. Since then I’ve learned how to love and play jazz, pop, and rock, as well as how to sing, compose and understand the principles of composition and music theory. I graduated from Conservatory in Almaty and Berklee College in Boston and I’m pursuing Master of Arts, while teaching and performing in Boston area. Teaching experience is as fascinating as piano performance and yet, is more challenging at times. My focus is to make sure my students understand what they do and why they do it in music and seeing them grow is one of the greatest feelings I’ve had.

About Alya
Hello everyone! My name is Alya Izumchensky, I was born and raised in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, where I started my piano lessons. I was a very competitive classical pianist in my teenage years in Russia, and have won many regional and national competitions. My favorite composers always were Chopin and Rachmaninov, but also J. S. Bach. After achieving a Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance I decided to expand my education and went to Berklee College of Music, to pursue Performance in jazz, but it wasn't enough for me so I took Composition and Film Scoring as well. :) I received several awards from college as well, and that was a tremendous experience.
My world got expanded so much more, I started falling in love with World Music, in particular, Balkan, Fusion, odd meters, polyrhythms, eastern modes, etc...alongside with jazz that I keep
studying nowadays. Besides that, I do a lot of accompanying for ballet dancers and solo violinists and reed players. And I'm gaining recognition as a pianist for musical theatre. I'm enjoying everything and I feel really blessed that I'm capable of playing what I want, sight read incredibly fast both traditionally notated music and lead sheets format, improvise and play with musicians by ear when needed as I have a perfect pitch. I'm looking forward to pass my accumulative knowledge about music and piano skills to you, and I really hope to make my every student a better musician and, more importantly, artist and human being.

Experienced and well rounded musician. Just graduated from New England Conservatory with Masters in Voice Performance. Performed recently as Cunegonde in Bernstein's Candide and Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute.

Also trained in violin (15 years) and piano (10 years), and have experience tutoring music theory and keyboard harmony at the undergrad level.

Have taught beginning/intermediate piano, improvisation, and play/improvise constantly :)

Lets start the road towards your musical growth and enjoyment in the way YOU work best!! Whether you want to learn how to improvise, sight read, play by ear, or learn specific pieces, I am here to help you MAKE THAT HAPPEN!!

While we are at it, we can work on another instrument, music theory, or even an academic subject (check out my other subjects on my page!).

About Catherine
Hi! I'm Catherine. I'm passionate for anything music, math, or science, and I would love to work with you to help you accomplish your academic, musical, or personal goals!

A BIT ABOUT ME:

I have a BA in Chemistry and Music (voice and violin concentrations) with academic honors, and a Masters in Music from New England Conservatory (NEC). I have lab experience in Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Astrochemistry at Rollins College, Georgia Tech and The University of Virginia.

I have taught and tutored keyboard harmony and music theory at the Undergrad level at NEC, and have tutored privately (math up to calculus, chemistry up to organic, writing).

WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU:

Having trained in violin for 15 years, piano for 10, and voice for 8, I am ready to help you expand your skills with music lessons.

I am also ready t
o tutor you in music theory, math, chemistry, writing, and will take further requests!! (I can even do standardized tests like the SAT or ACT).

I can't wait to help you in the way that YOU learn best, and taper our lessons to what will help YOUR GROWTH. Going through school and lessons was not a breeze for me, and I was never one of those people who just “got” things right away. For me it took a diligent learning process, so I know what it's like to learn things from scratch, work with a tutor, ask questions, and make mistakes to achieve the best I can. I want to help you do the same!!

Let's schedule a trial lesson and go from there! Look forward to meeting you.
