Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

I have over 30 years of combined education and experience performing and teaching percussion and piano. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Alabama, with Piano as my secondary instrument. I hold a Master's Degree in Percussion Performance from Indiana University, with a Cognate in Jazz Studies. I have taught private percussion, drum set, and piano lessons for over 30 years. I performed for 10 years as a contract percussionist with the Savannah Symphony Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the Macon Symphony Orchestra, and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. I have performed in orchestras with accomplished musicians including The Moody Blues (Chastain Park), Judy Collins, and Henry Mancini.

I like my students to have some fun while they learn. I ask that you practice
30 minutes a day, so that you can spend your lesson time learning and moving forward. For piano, I use the Alfred series, as well as the Real Book (jazz standards), and of course sheet music for classical pieces and popular tunes. After three months, you will have learned how to play the basic scales and chords, as well as some introductory classical and popular material. On drums after six months, you will know the first thirteen rudiments and some of the basic rock beats, and you will be playing with some rock ballads. After six months on piano, you will be playing all of the major scales and chords and the basic minor chords. You will be playing some Bach and Mozart, and you will start on some basic jazz standards. On drums, you will have learned most of the 26 basic rudiments, and you will be playing along with some medium tempo rock songs. You will have learned some coordinated independence to start playing jazz and swing styles (which by the way are the building blocks for playing R&B and hip-hop). And you'll enjoy the journey! I enjoy seeing my students grow as they learn. I have had students of mine go on to play in the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, get advanced music degrees, and become recording artists. The current Percussion Instructor at the University of Alabama was my percussion student. While I know that not everyone seeks to play professionally, you will learn the tools to play well. I look forward to teaching you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Front and side entrance upright piano in living room plus drum set, electronic keyboard, seating for parents.

I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and teaching since 2008. Along with teaching, I've also been pursuing music recording, an endeavor which has produced two full-length albums and one that is still in progress that should be released sometime in 2018.

*** Lesson Details ***
When teaching guitar or any other instrument, I typically use a method book to guide the lessons. In addition to the lesson book, which will cover music-reading, we'll learn scales, chords and strum patterns, among other things. I try to tailor each lesson according to the student's skill level and individual musical interests.

After learning the basics, we can learn different styles of music, including rock, blues, jazz, classical, etc. I look forward to exploring these genres with you!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my own instrument. I would ex

About Casey
While still in high school, three of my songs were featured on National Public Radio and I was able to play at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. I next went to school at App State and then graduated from the Atlanta Institute of Music and headlined the graduation concert! My grad school was moving around Atlanta, Savannah, Athens, Nashville, New York and Chicago as a hired guitarist, and teaching in music stores. I played in a wide range of styles and roles (engineer, promoter, musical director, band leader etc) and around 300 gigs!

I took a break last year to finish 2 books I had bouncing around in my head and hard drive and self published them last year! The books compliment lessons so our time is spent showing you how to play and playing together, not you looking at me, while I draw a chord. The books have tab with rhythm, chor
d/scale diagrams and a written description of each topic like an encyclopedia. They also show you how music fits together and give you a solid foundation to build on and music ideas you can use.

As a performer in Savannah, Georgia, my band received the "Best Blues Band" award from Connect Magazine in 2007. I'm currently endorsing Curt Mangan Strings and Gadow Guitars because they're awesome!!!

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is all about building on what you already know and pointing out what you're doing right. I'm a very laid back person and love to hear and learn new music so I try to incorporate the music you want to learn as much as possible. Above all else I try to teach you how to practice so that you get the most out of your guitar when you're not in your lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
recording studio, amps, music stand chairs...has a dog.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Travel amp, acoustic or electric, cables.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching theory, technique, performance and improvisation through song so you don't feel like you're working. I am fluent in and have performed these styles on stage: rock, jazz, blues, pop, metal, show tunes, surf, funk, jam, and R&B. I like it all! I teach you to have a solid foundation and how to get songs performance ready. I also try to encourage you to write your own music and can show you some ways to be more creative and get more mileage out of some of the things you already know.

About Ginger
I have been teaching music to young people since 1987. I began as an elementary music specialist and taught in public schools for thirteen years. After starting my family, I began to teach part time as a Preschool music and movement teacher and private piano instructor. I now have fifteen years experience in this field. In the fall of 2013, I added a group keyboard class to my schedule for young beginners. My experience in the music classroom and the piano studio continues to inform my teaching and approach to working with music students of all ages. Students respond positively to the excitement and beauty of making music.

During every piano lesson I aim to help the student play musically and beautifully. We listen to different styles of music and use expressive technique to recreate that style.

My piano studies began in the fi
rst-grade. I studied the piano through high school and entered college as a music major with piano as my principal instrument. I chose the flute when middle school band was offered and continued to play through high school and college. My degree course was classroom/choral music which lead me to be a University Singer at Ole Miss during my four years there. It's fair to say that music has contributed greatly to make me the person I am .

I lived in Yokkaichi Japan after graduation from college where I taught conversational English and served as a Christian missionary. When I returned to the Atlanta area, I began my music education career. My music library has grown to include books, cds and music in American Folk music, multi-cultural folk music, classical and jazz music. I've also had the privilege of gaining many hours of professional training in Orff Schulwerk , Kodaly, Choral education and working with young children .

My mission is to bring music to life in my lessons and my students' lives!

*** Lesson Details ***
I think my best teaching characteristic is encouragement. When you're learning something new, you need time to get it right. I use Alfred's Premier Performance series because it includes duets for the teacher and student to play together. This is a fun way to play rhythmically and have ensemble sound while getting started. Alfred also introduces multiple styles of music, simple folk songs to more complicated boogie and dance rhythms as well as classical selections. My students prepare music for the winter holidays and a spring recital. I introduce scales for students who are ready by the second and third year and supplement course books with popular and classical pieces.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Petrof studio upright piano, drums, CD's, library of supplemental piano music.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional method series instruction for young students through adult. I recently added the Musikgarten "Making Music at the Keyboard" curriculum to my method choices. The Musikgarten approach focuses on aural training, leading students to internalize the music they learn before playing it at the keyboard. It emphasizes hearing, singing and playing the rhythmic and melodic patterns before reading them. Like learning to read words, this approach starts with "speaking" the language of music followed by reading and writing it.

I was involved and highly encouraged to participate in various concert and symphony performances and competitions because of my performing talents alone. With my leadership role as Drumline Captain, as early as college i taught and coached other percussionists on varied percussion instruments as a part of the band. My passion to teach continues on, and since 2012, I became partner and percussion instructor at Being of Light Academy of Musical Arts (formerly Clark Music Studio) and has recently partnered up with Imagine Tomorrow Leadership Academy in Conyers, GA, to mentor and teach beginning percussion to children ages 4-7. I am also a performing artist, hip hop and spoken word lyricist, songwriter, DJ and producer. I'm available for consulting services in songwriting for individuals and workshops. Most importantly, I enjoy teaching those
who want to learn and loves to motivate those with the slightest ambition of being a percussionist.

About Cassidy
As a professional violinist graduated from the University of Michigan, I am dedicated to making music of all forms come to lifeā€”and to sharing my passion for music, art, and the world around with as many people as possible. Having earned BMs in both Violin Performance and Music History, I believe that a holistic approach to playing the violin is crucial, and I am passionate about teaching individuals of all ages the craft of the violin while exploring the theory and history that make our art so captivating.

My own musical interests center around new music (classical works being written today) and music from the Renaissance and late Medieval time periods; the fields are more similar than one might think! I currently perform with a specialized new-music quartet and several other ensembles, working extensively with contemporary student co
mposers and aiming to share their work throughout the Ann Arbor community.

Cassidy Goldblatt is a very bright and enthusiastic teacher who offers tremendous insight into creatively effective ways of playing the violin. When I recently performed in front of her as practice for my jury, I found that her most stressed advice (for me) was to focus on elements concerning the mind, and opening up the body: things that I never considered speculating into in my past ten years of playing violin. Her specific advice turned out to be extremely helpful when playing under high stress, and I not only regret not finding her sooner, but I once again commend Cassidy on her imaginative insight and never-ending ideas on technique and musicality. Cassidy's constantly supportive and graceful demeanor were key to creating a meaningful collaboration in our time together, and would only help but inspire passion for music in her future students.

About Tyler
Tyler Stampe is an international award winning composer from the state of Iowa, USA. Stampe has written for many mediums including film, opera, choir, orchestra, chamber and solo instruments, and electronics.

As a teacher, Tyler has taught voice, music theory, sight reading, and composition lessons to students of all ages. He has a degree in music education, a degree in composition, and is currently finishing his final degree.

When taking lessons; you can expect to achieve the following:
Fundamentals of singing
Building singing skills
How to read and write music
How to listen to music
Sight Singing
Scales
Key signatures
Intervals
Dictation
Chords and how they work
How to analyze music

Here are a few reviews from students I have taught:
Mr. Stampe was a great teacher. He was always professional and fair about his tests and gradin
g. Aside from the basic music theory 1 curriculum itself, he gave the class additional input that gave some of the concepts more context. I learned alot. Most of all, I appreciated his willingness to help me on an individual basis. I don't think I grasped some of the concepts as fast as other students, but Mr. Stampe was always there to lend a helping hand. At times, I'd run into him just as he was leaving the building, but he'd still help me with a homework problem or two. He didn't have to do this, but I'm thankful that he did. I'd recommend Mr. Stampe to anyone wanting to take Music Theory.

Mr. Stampe is an absolutely fantastic teacher. I doubt I would have learned as much as I did throughout the Aural skills sequence at UGA if he wasn't my instructor. He just has a way with teaching and getting concepts across that is very effective. He goes above and beyond to make sure no one in the class ever falls behind, and is very understanding and willing to give extra help. He's so great!.

I love Mr. Stampe, he was very helpful and took time out of his schedule to help me when ever possible! The only thing I would say is try to include more dictations in class, don't focus as much on theory behind it, deffinetly still go over it but just not as much. For example it really did help though when, you would go over the functions of each chord and note. Thank you for a great year!

I thought that Mr. Stampe was a very good instructor. He was always willing to meet outside of class to help you with questions. He also tried to explain things many ways when you don't understand. He is very smart and good at what he does. I hope to h
