I've been playing guitar over 40 years and teaching guitar for over 30 years and have literally taught hundreds of students. A number of other guitar instructors and professional guitarists in the Atlanta area have been former students. I've performed professionally since I was 16. I teach reading music, tab reading, chord knowledge, strumming patterns, understanding rhythm notation, fretboard knowledge, finger picking, flatpicking, learning songs, improvisation, rock, country, blues, jazz, etc. I teach at every level of playing from beginner to pro-level players.

Learning to play the Ukulele is so much fun! Young and old alike enjoy being able to play chords in just a few short lessons to favorite songs. This instrument is especially great for little ones- it's a great starter to string instruments of all types. You can find an inexpensive but good quality Ukulele at most music stores. I teach chords, rhythm and individual note reading so students enjoy themselves while learning to read music!

Music has been my passion since starting lessons age 7 and training for years in performance, composition and theory, culminating in a masters degree from The Royal Academy of Music in London, England. Learning to read music well with enjoyment, musicality and strong technique is my main focus. I cover music from different periods in history, including music being composed today. I work with children age 5 to adults with all levels of experience. I have taught children in schools and privately in my home studio where I have an upright acoustic Schulze Pollmann (German/Italian) piano and a Yamaha keyboard with weighted keys. Positive reinforcement is my teaching philosophy and each lesson is tailored to the students needs and goals. Check out my availability and let’s get started!

I have been teaching flute for almost 20 years. I have a doctorate in flute performance and have done training and extensive research in body mapping and efficiency of body use. I take a very holistic approach to teaching and playing the flute. Each student is a person, an individual unlike anyone else. Every body is unique and therefore will play the flute differently than other flutists. When I teach, I aim to get to know the whole person in order to effectively work with the flutist. I work to get to know how each student learns and processes information. A flutist cannot become a good musician without making the journey their own. My goal is to give every student their own individual path to reach their goals, while also giving them the tools to use in their own teaching of individual flutists. I emphasize these specific areas in my teaching: the physical aspects of flute playing, including playing position and posture, breath control, sound and tone production, projection and ...

Firstly, I want you to learn and enjoy the process of learning, including theory study. I struggled finding motivation to learn theory when I was a youth, and I have come to truly love and appreciate it as a musician now. This means I believe in working with a metronome!
I teach age ranges 5 and up, working primarily out of the Fabre book series, with additional materials for those wanting to play with chord structures.
I have experience working with both high functioning autistic and dyslexic clients, and I find great joy in discovering the best teaching methods for each student’s particular needs and goals.
What I do not teach is blues and jazz. I’m learning this genre and hope to one day be able to pass what I learn onto my students!
Keep learning, always. 🤓

Our daughter has learned so much from Ms. Terri. She provides a truly positive, fun, and rewarding atmosphere for learning. Although not a fan of practicing, Kristen LOVES going to her lessons; and as parents, we enjoy watching her grow and become more confident with her playing. We highly recommend Ms. Terri!"

Any time you learn a new skill, you will probably make some mistakes when you're starting out. Making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process, but be careful not to let an error become a habit. For violinists, this is especially important, as each skill and new piece of music that you learn will build upon the things you have just learned. These 7 common violin mistakes might be holding you back from reaching your full potential as a musician. Whether you are a beginner or you …
