I'm a big fan of the series "Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory," which takes the student from the rudiments of music theory through basic harmony.

If students prefer a more in-depth study of theory, we might try the books put out by ABRSM.

Accomplished voice and piano professional with nine years’ experience cultivating high-achieving, talented music students and preparing them for ABRSM exams, National Piano Guild Auditions, NFMC Jr. festivals, twice-a-year recitals, and numerous local competitions. Experienced in creating fun, eng

My son Burke has taken piano lessons from Stephen McCool for a few years and we think he is AWESOME! He shows a genuine interest in his students, stays serious about what he is teaching but also brings humor in to keep students from feeling stressed. It is clear that it brings him joy to share his love of music with his students. Mr. McCool is an excellent teacher and I would highly recommend him for students of any age.
Andrew N.
The first lesson was superb. Andrew really enjoyed his first piano class and really liked learning it from Mr. McCool. After class, Andrew was immediately motivated to do his practice. Mr. McCool is very encouraging, he makes the lesson easy going while making his student learned quickly (without pressure). We look forward to the next lessons with him. Leaving the students with their own desire to learn and to love music is indeed very important. He delivers that traits well.

I've been using Pro Tools since 2012. I first started using it in college, where I became Pro Tools certified. I used it for all my recording and scoring classes and was even paid by the university to run student recording sessions. Since graduating, I've used it as my primary DAW, not only on my own, but for professional recording studios. I don't just know the textbook answers, but have lots of real-world experience.

Patient. Really nice. Informative.

When I came to Sandra I was one month away from my college piano audition and in need of a miracle. I had to prepare four quite difficult pieces and I had not taken any piano lessons since I was 12 years old (over 6 years). I knew this sounded very impossible but I went for it anyway. A month later, I got accepted into the Piano Performance program. So basically, Sandra is a miracle worker. She didn't only help me ace these pieces from scratch and learn the proper way and style to play them in, but she also helped me record my audition tapes and let me use her piano for them. She took her own personal time to give me extra help so I could get into this university and she was always supportive and caring too. Not only is she a piano master, but she is also extremely nice so every lesson was very pleasant and enjoyable. My piano skills greatly improved in just a month and I cannot thank her enough for everything she's helped me achieve. So if you are looking for an amazing piano teacher, you just found her! Seriously, look no further, you will not be disappointed.

Violin Scales for Beginners [G Major Scale Tutorial & More!]

One of the most important aspects when learning how to play the violin is understanding scales. Learning scales will give you a solid foundation as you begin to explore new pieces of music. Violin Scales for Beginners Simply put, a violin scale is a series of notes, ordered by frequency or pitch, that span an octave (a consecutive set of eight notes.) For instance, to play a G scale, start by playing the lowest G on your violin (open G string.) Then, ascend up in pitch and play the note …
