A few years ago, I moved from Ohio to Florida and was concerned about finding a new piano teacher. To my disappointment, after trying two teachers, I was still left looking for a better one. That's when I had the pleasure of meeting Lana. Lana has reinforced my knowledge of music theory, challenged my technical skills, and most importantly improved my overall ability to play. Through Lana's various teaching techniques and exercises, I have never played better and or had more enthusiasm to keep learning!

I have been playing music since I was 3 years old and have been teaching for the last 5 years. I set up every lesson plan to match what the student would like to learn as well as making sure to meet the parents goals and expectations. I work with all ages and all levels. I also work very well with those that have special needs such as Autism. Every lesson is engaging and exciting, it is never a dull moment.

About April

I picked up music when I was very young and have never looked back. I started with the piano and then moved on to the violin, of which I competed regularly in up until high school. In high school I switched the viola and found it to me even more amazing. During high school I competed again in music

"Megan works as a music teacher for the public school district. She has taken many courses on childhood education and music. She has BS from Santa Barbara in music and took lessons in piano, clarinet, cello from elementary age through college. When she works with students it’s very obvious she has a music and education background. The kids love her. We were so lucky to have her in CA. She takes pride in teaching and is so talented herself."

""I want to keep taking lessons from Buzz for the rest of my life!"
So said my 10 year old son after his first lesson with Buzz. The same kid who had been begging to quit taking piano lessons with his former teacher situation.
Buzz is a master of "following the student's inspiration." Rather than force a lesson sequence out of a book, Buzz observes the student's own thinking about the music experience and tailors fun learning objectives within or close to the student's inspiration. As a result, my son is much more willing to practice, and has recently "composed" his own piece of music, learned about different styles, and absorbed an impressive amount of music theory. Buzz is highly recommended for any student who has musical aptitude, but requires the right motivation and inspiration."

"I read previous reviews which assisted me in selecting Jen. After connecting with her I realized she had the perfect location (less than 10 mins from my house in Catonsville) and professional patience with my twin 14 yr old sons. They had a little experience before the lessons with Jen, but after only a few lessons, their piano/keyboard playing was much sharper than before. She has a beautiful voice and the boys always felt really positive after each lesson. They were more eager to practice at home to demonstrate the skills she taught them previously. Also, Jen hand writes lessons for the boys, which helped them better understand sheet music. She's a Gem. Well worth the investment!"

14 Common Musical Terms All Piano Players Need to Know

As you're learning how to read music on the piano, you'll come across a lot of different words and terms that will seem like a foreign language. And that's because... they are! Most sheet music terms you'll see are Italian, or have Italian roots, while others are taken from French, German, Latin, or Spanish. But don't worry -- you don't need to learn how to speak Italian fluently to be a good piano player. There are many piano terms and symbols, but the 14 listed in the infographic below are …
