We have had a few in-home lessons with Jim for our 9yo girl and 15yo boy. He's fantastic; he cares deeply about music and their love of it. He has high expectations of their progress, and he is very good with their different skills levels and motivates them accordingly. We highly recommend Jim!

During the first lesson we will get acquainted and you can tell me about your history with the instrument and what you would like to learn. Then I will come up with fun technique building exercises so you can play with ease. Then we usually work on a goal piece. For the piece I will give you practice methods and ways to play through the pieces with a beautiful tone. Viola is fun and expect to have a great time!

About Daniel

I began playing the violin at age 7 and I have enjoyed every moment since! I switched to the viola at age 19 and pursued both a bachelor's and master's in Viola Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music. My husband and I were extremely pleased with the progress our son Thomas made with Dan. Thomas started playing last year and was progressing faster than the rest of his third grade class which is why we were looking for a private teacher to help him along. Before taking lessons with Dan I had a hard time getting Thomas to practice. Thomas has begun practicing all on his own because he has been genuinely inspired. Dan is a true professional who always on time and in a good mood to teach. He was so patient with Thomas and developed practice techniques unique to Thomas's situation. Dan is more than just a violin teacher, he is dedicated to inspiring each student to love music. Thanks Dan!!!

"A great educator and learning enviroment

All two of daughters take violin lessons from Kelvin. He's been a wonderful addition to the community. He has a great level of patience and natural way of connecting with young children.
The girls also enjoy the community aspect of Kevin's program as well as the opportunity to perform the pieces of music that they work so hard on mastering.
They both made into Chicago youth symphony last year."

One Easy Trick to Convert Guitar Chords to Ukulele Chords | TakeLessons

Are you trying to learn a song on ukulele but can only find guitar chords? I’ve played guitar all my life and have a collection of Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls. For my birthday a few years ago, my girlfriend bought me an electric Les Paul-style ukulele. I’d never played a uke before -- ever. I had to go online to even find out how to tune the thing! Undaunted, I discovered the standard tuning is from the top string G – C – E – A. The G string is thinner than the C string, sort …
