Learning the electric bass? I can help you learn how to play songs as well as how to come up with your own bass parts. I can help you with improvising or reading chord charts as well as how to play for different styles of music.

Bass lessons with me focus on the importance of pocket, groove, and ear training for improvisation.

We will look at famous bass players such as Parliament's, Bootsy Collins and seasoned bassists Charlie Parker, Pino Paladino and Thundercat. The lessons will be curated behind the students goals/desires if that's creating unique baselines or learning songs and the theory behind them.

Students should expect to learn a variety of topics such as naming different parts of the instrument, tuning, technique, music theory, function within a larger ensemble.

Students will benefit from a personally customized approach to learning, exploring musical styles that range from rock to pop, blues to country, punk to folk, and at every level of musical experience. Tim is a teacher with 20 years of teaching and performing experience.

A life-long learner myself I understand the need and satisfaction of continuous progress! Helping my students to learn and advance is one of the biggest rewards of lessons. Tutoring includes: Technique, music theory, reading, ear training, and more. All lessons are geared to the type of music you like to play, but what you'll learn can apply to all styles of music.
I'll set-up (adjust your instrument so that it plays as easily as possible) I’ll also teach you basic set-up and maintenance so you can keep your bass in top condition.
