About Alex

I was passionate about music when I was younger, but I never had the tools to get where I wanted. Music was always a mystery to me and I got stuck learning from tabs and not stepping out of my circle of knowledge. It wasn't until I pursued music seriously that my love for the art really took off. I've been teaching cello for 10 years and my students have gone on to participate in All-State orchestra, and play in professional orchestras. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to produce sound and play simple songs and as time goes on you'll be able to read music fluently and perform with ease. I specialize in Classical, and typically use Suzuki and Klengal scale books. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Byron

I love music. I love it so much that I have made it my career. I have been playing the cello for over 20 years and have studied in universities since 2002. In that time, I have worked extensively with great artists such as, Rhonda Rider, Joel Krosnick, Andy Mark, Nicholas Tzavares, and Mark Steinbe

I'm an adult and I've been working with Byron for 5 months now. We've worked in person and now through video during quarantine. It's been a great experience and I would surely recommend him!

I had no experience with string instruments and feel I'm on my way to playing the cello competently. Byron keeps things fun and moving along at a good pace. He's especially good at diagnosing the cause of any difficulties I'm having.
Sheila
Excellent for someone new to the instrument.

Honestly could not ask for a better teacher. I was struggling to find a teacher in the area and boy did I pretty much hit the jackpot. Great teacher, super intelligent and understanding. I am a beginner but would highly recommend him to anyone. Not only does Byron play beautifully but he knows exactly what and how to teach you. Im always excited for my next lesson, so you should contact him and set one up too!

About Ray

Hello! My name is Ray, I'm 31 years old, and was born in Queens, NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at the Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. During this program I was introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synth

Ray is an amazing teacher. My 11-year-old has high-functioning autism and has a great interest in learning music. I was hesitant to hire just any teacher, as many teachers don't have the patience and understanding to work with special needs kids. However, Ray has been not only patient, but he has an exceptional way of teaching my son in a way that he would understand and retain the information. Ray is creative, intuitive, and experienced. My son is very happy and enjoys the lesson every single time. Thanks Ray.

Every student is different which is why I love to build a custom curriculum for each musician in my studio! Not only will we get you playing your favorite songs or repertoire in any genre, but we can also build strong skills in musicianship in any areas that appeal to you including ear training, solfege, music theory, sight reading, accompaniment skills, composition/songwriting, arranging and orchestration, and foundations of conducting.

I specialize in working with students age 12 through adulthood; beginners through college preparatory and advanced students welcome!

About Derek

A little bit about me as a musician and a teacher… I’m a trained wearer-of-many-hats. As a musician, you could have seen me as any number of things in the last 10 years: a conductor, a composer, a trombone player, a singer, or a producer. But above all, I have always considered myself a teacher fi

I've had Derek as a conductor for a small string ensemble for about 5 years and he's truly the best anyone can ask for! He's great with young students and is amazing at motivating and explaining exactly what he wants out of musicians. His love and knowledge for music is extremely evident and that in turn encourages his students to strive to greater heights in musicianship.

"Kendra is an awesome instructor ... As an adult student new to the saxophone she not only taught me the fundamentals but also adjusted the lessons to the style of music I enjoy... My daughter took clarinet with Kendra and was just as happy... The other amazing thing was in a short period of time she brought me to the level where I could be a part of her adult saxophone chamber group... I would highly recommend Kendra whether you are new to the saxophone or clarinet or have been playing awhile and want to increase your level of play with the style of music you enjoy!"

"Alex is a fantastic instructor. He gave my 10 year old guitar lessons and was very patient with his attention span and sometimes lack of practice :-) He taught my son the songs that he wanted to learn, not forcing him into learning things of which he had no interest. I can't recommend Alex more highly....he has found his calling and has mastered it!"

"I've been taking lessons with Kim, off and on as finances allowed, for 10+ years. Kim has a brilliant knack for being able to quickly assess what is needed to keep me moving forward in my study of music. We have primarily focused on bass with some guitar thrown in. That speaks to the flexibility and patience that this instructor possesses. She will keep lessons focused and moving forward, challenging me when it's called for, all in a gentle, affirming manner. I cannot speak highly enough about Kim's abilities both as a performing musician or as a music instructor. Nobody could go wrong with Kim as a teacher, she's been great!!"

3 Reasons Pianists Should Be Playing Hanon Exercises Daily

Hanon exercises: they might not be the most fun, but they can make a big impact on your progress as you're learning how to play piano! Read on as Saint Augustine, FL teacher Heather L. explains why...   Sure, you could buy a technique book, a book of warm-ups, and a book of "finger-strengthening exercises," and work with all three every day. And some of you may be advised by your teachers to do so, based on your past playing experience and future goals. But if you're a middle-school …
