I start from scratch with every student, and create a plan based on their goals, experience, and preferred music styles. No two students have the same lesson.
Additionally, because the jazz school I attended gave students very strong instruction in harmony and ear-training, I teach students not just how to read notes, but to understand what they're playing so they can be more creative and versatile. Moreover, I encourage students to feel comfortable making mistakes in a safe environment so they can step outside of their comfort zone.
I've been involved with music for nearly my whole life. I started out with Suzuki violin lessons and then switched to the piano when I was in the 2nd grade and have been performing, studying, composing, and teaching ever since. I graduated from Yale with a Bachelor's in History and afterward e

I work best with singers of any age just starting out, or those, such as older adults, who have had some training before and are looking to get back into practice.
**UPDATE** I am fully vaccinated against Covid-19, and in-person lessons are being slowly phased in with precautions based on CDC guidelines and local restrictions. I hold a both Master's and Bachelor's degrees in music, and have studied with singers who have had international careers and perfo

I've been teaching this genre since beginning my vocal studio in 2005. I usually teach this as a supplement to basic vocal technique, with emphasis both on vocal health and elements of style.
I want to dispel the myth that only a select few are "gifted" with beautiful voices. Singing is like a sport; it is a skill requiring refined muscular coordination, which anyone can improve with practice and focused instruction. My teaching experience encompasses students of all ages and abili
She's so good at explaining the most confusing things about singing technique (which for a beginner is a lot). She's very patient and it's heartwarming when she gets excited about the times I do something right. I trust Kristen with my voice and I like how she encourages me to do hard but fun repertoire. Would definitely recommend!
P.S. Her voice is absolutely beautiful. You know you have a good teacher when she demonstrates something and you think, "I want to sound like that."

Albino was born in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, a country in southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage. Fueled by the resourcefulness and determination that have always characterized Mozambicans, he built his first guitar at 16 from a 5-liter can of oil, scrap wood, and

Everyone can learn to sing! Singing is a very human exercise and, whether you feel insecure or confident as a singer, you can only get better when you explore this thing called "your voice". As both an experienced teacher and performer, Jason can help you grasp and build the fundamental practices of singing.
Jason Watson is a graduate of the University of Arkansas school in the area of music where he was a member of Schola Cantorum, the University's elite choir, and is currently pursuing a masters degree in composing for video games accredited by the University of Chichester, England. Over the last tw

Finding your real voice, free vocalizing, harmony, blending, improve usable range, the mixed voice. The first steps to mastering vocal freedom are the building blocks for vocal success. Whether the student is a child or an adult, with little or no training, it is my goal to make singing an enjoyable and freeing experience. Singing with complete vocal freedom and confidence can seem very elusive. Surprisingly, it's not as elusive as one might think! The steps to vocal freedom are within reach and most students experience a measure of freedom within the first lessons. Using a systematic method incorporating learning technique and songs the student loves to sing makes learning more fun and gives the student a greater appreciation of music as a whole while encouraging a passion for music that lasts a lifetime.
My main subject is voice but I also teach acoustic guitar, ukulele and songwriting for the student who desires to develop their own style and create their own songs. Not only is it fun but the music education that comes with it is highly valuable for future musicians. (guitar and ukulele rentals a

I've had a guitar sitting around my flat for about two years. The only thing I could do, other than looking at it, was playing three open chords very very very badly. And I just thought that playing music wasn't for me and that I didn't have the mind for it.
Because I am stuck at home for the quarantine, I decided to check if maybe I could do something productive with my time and decided to give taking some guitar lessons a try.
Doing research online for someone willing to teach me remotely, I found Nick, and I am thrilled I did.
We have now had only about 6-7 lessons, but he has ignited in me a passion for learning the guitar and also made me believe I can.
He has a style that will accommodate and inspire any sort of student.
In my case, I want to learn the blues. But because I knew nothing about guitar playing, I need someone that can take me through the basics in a structured way where things build on each other. Nick did just that.
The guy is a proper performing musician with a great personality and loads of experience under his belt.
I have been inspired and made confident by his way of teaching, and I want to study with him for years to come."
Music is an underrated but extremely important part of a child’s education. The benefits of learning an instrument go beyond simply having a better lifestyle. Studies have shown how music improves the brain function, hand coordination, self-discipline, and hard-working habits of those who have studied it in their youth. Of all the instruments to choose from, learning piano is arguably the best. Let's look at some reasons why children should learn piano, and what makes this such a great first i …
