In addition to years of live rock singing experience, I have over ten years of classical vocal training from opera singer Jordan Ferrar. I help each student to find their own unique voice, combing healthy singing with contemporary singing styles.

Let's sing and grow your voice! During singing lessons I work to develop each individual voice through technique based exercises and songs. I have worked with singers of all ages ranging from 4 years old to 80 years old. Some students need to prep for performances or auditions while others just want to enjoy music and strengthen their voice. Each student moves at a different pace and may have specific needs, so the format of the lesson may vary slightly, however, we typically warm up first with vocal exercises to build and stretch the voice and then switch to either theory or a song the student is studying. If there is enough time in the lesson we will work on both skill sets or multiple songs. I like to work the full range of a student's voice so that their voice stays balanced and healthy. Song choice will depend on the level of the student and the genre of interest as well as which songs will best help their voice grow and reach its full potential.
About Anna
*I am currently teaching online through zoom/FaceTime/google duo/Skype and will resume in person lessons mid October. I grew up in a musical home with a piano teacher for a mom. Consequently, I started learning piano and singing at a young age, and then began taking voice lessons in high school

Our voice is one of many ways to communicate, it is a gift and an amazing gift at that. Our voice can be used to communicate, interact, teach, tell a story, display how we feel, transport people’s hearts to another place or time; to name a few.
Being able to sing is one thing but to also be able to perform and have your audience receive you well takes skills and training. I will help you engage with your audience while you display your art through your voice.

Hi All!
For those of you out there who are unsure about whether lessons are for you, or worried in general about singing in front of other people, I'm here to tell you that not only do I think you can do it, but I think you will end up surprising yourself and your loved ones with the talent that you have.
The goal for every lesson is to make sure you become comfortable with mistakes, comfortable working through the process, and proud of the results you get at the end. This is a lesson with no judgement and no expectations other than for you to be you and give it your best shot. There is no homework due at each lesson and I will always provide the most patient and supporting atmosphere possible.
About Jason
I teach an open throat, mixed voice method, and have over 10 years of experience in live musical performance settings; from church venues, to dive bars, to the House of Blues San Diego, and everywhere in between. Through it all I've learned how to practice, how to setup and balance instruments and

My granddaughters took voice, guitar, and piano from Missy from the age of third grade through high school. I selected Missy due to her experience: classically trained on piano and voice during her formative years, studied at Berklee College of Music, Boston, toured the country as a solo singer/songwriter, and played world-famous and iconic venues, including the late CBGBs in New York City and the Bluebird in Nashville. You can find her on iTunes, and one of her students, Paul Thomas Mitchell (a.k.a. Tommy Mitchell) was on the hit television show, America's Got Talent.
When my granddaughters were young, Missy worked tirelessly to create lesson plans for my granddaughters in order to keep them interested in music. For example, if my younger granddaughter (3rd grade at the time) was unmotivated to practice in her workbooks at home, Missy would spend part of a lesson just talking with my granddaughter about what music she was currently enjoying. Then Missy would incorporate that music into her lesson plan. As a result, my granddaughter became once again motivated to practice. Missy makes lessons fun while still teaching technique.
I never imagined all that my granddaughters would learn and enjoy while studying under Missy. And Missy's work with her students does not end in her music studio. My granddaughters participated in summer band camps and performed at small local venues, all organized by Missy.
Although my granddaughters no longer take lessons from Missy, because they live out of town and are in college, we all consider her a dear friend. She genuinely cares about her students and keeps in touch long after lessons end."

Karen is an awesome teacher with patience and excellent methods to help people sing. She taught me the singing techniques and mostly importantly gave me confidence to face my weakness and sing once more."
