In addition to years of live rock singing experience, I have over ten years of classical vocal training from opera singer Jordan Ferrar. I help each student to find their own unique voice, combing healthy singing with contemporary singing styles.

I spent many years singing vocal jazz under the mentorship of Paris Rutherford-professor Emeritus UNT. Most recently with The New Collection in Dallas, Tx.
I can help you interpret, sing, phrase, stylize, and understand what jazz singing is!

Let's sing and grow your voice! During singing lessons I work to develop each individual voice through technique based exercises and songs. I have worked with singers of all ages ranging from 4 years old to 80 years old. Some students need to prep for performances or auditions while others just want to enjoy music and strengthen their voice. Each student moves at a different pace and may have specific needs, so the format of the lesson may vary slightly, however, we typically warm up first with vocal exercises to build and stretch the voice and then switch to either theory or a song the student is studying. If there is enough time in the lesson we will work on both skill sets or multiple songs. I like to work the full range of a student's voice so that their voice stays balanced and healthy. Song choice will depend on the level of the student and the genre of interest as well as which songs will best help their voice grow and reach its full potential.

All levels of voice are taught, geared to whatever is your musical specialty but using a technique stemming from classical voice.

Our voice is one of many ways to communicate, it is a gift and an amazing gift at that. Our voice can be used to communicate, interact, teach, tell a story, display how we feel, transport people’s hearts to another place or time; to name a few.
Being able to sing is one thing but to also be able to perform and have your audience receive you well takes skills and training. I will help you engage with your audience while you display your art through your voice.

For those of you out there who are unsure about whether lessons are for you, or worried in general about singing in front of other people, I'm here to tell you that not only do I think you can do it, but I think you will end up surprising yourself and your loved ones with the talent that you have.

The goal for every lesson is to make sure you become comfortable with mistakes, comfortable working through the process, and proud of the results you get at the end. This is a lesson with no judgement and no expectations other than for you to be you and give it your best shot. There is no homework due at each lesson and I will always provide the most patient and supporting atmosphere possible.
