Erika G. Saint Petersburg, FL

About Erika

Erika is a multi-instrumentalist on a mission - to share the power of music with as many people as possible! Raised by an opera singer, Erika was exposed to classical music before birth; she knew how to read music before she could read words! From an early age, Erika knew that she was going to be a musician. At 10 years old, she began her study of piano; at 12, she taught herself viola and violin. Her career started at the age of 14 with a church pianist job and her very first private student. By 16, she was playing viola with the local symphony orchestra, accompanying collegiate vocalists, and teaching adults 20 years her senior. Before leaving for college, Erika had the very special honor of being one of eight pianists chosen state-wide to attend the Tennessee Governor's School for ...

I am an adult student and find Erika to be a very capable teacher. She is encouraging and easy going. She has helpful suggestions and willing to help me with all of my questions and choices of music and practice procedures. She always knows how to correct my mistakes while still encouraging me. She does not waste any of our time yet I think I may change my 30 minute lessons to 45 minutes to maybe an hour. She gives me written home work, which is good as I quickly forget things said during the lesson.

From the first time Erika came into our home to teach my 10 year old daughter, we all felt relaxed, comfortable and happy to have her here. My daughter adores the lessons! they go by so quickly and even though they cover a lot of ground and Erik is strict about the learning and getting it right, she is always so encouraging and supportive! I hear them laughing lots and my daughter is always happy and glowing after the lesson. she practices more readily and looks forward to her lesson every week!. So thank you Erika

Erika is great! She really explains things in a way that makes sense to me, and she is all about the positive reinforcement, which makes learning to play the violin fun.

Laura is exactly the kind of teacher I was looking for. She customizes our lessons to my goals and current abilities. She has an amazing ability to make one feel good about progress at the same time she pushes you toward higher levels of performance. I thoroughly enjoy the lessons and practice I have. I highly recommend her for anyone who wants to explore piano or who wants to become a serious performer.

I took piano twice as a youth, and never really got it. I am doing it again at age 60, and am absolutely loving the approach that Laura uses. I find myself totally excited about the process and enthused that I will actually get it this time. I cannot recommend Laura highly enough.

I have done voice lessons twice before, first in Seattle, and second in Phoenix. Laura is BY FAR the best voice instructor of the three. I feel that I am finally "getting my voice". She is incredibly helpful in coaching me to get the proper tone, and to really learn the art of singing.

Nikki L., Sarasota, Florida

Fulfilling a lifelong dream, I started taking piano lessons a year ago with Nikki L. I started from scratch not knowing anything and here I am, a year later, still at it! Because of her teaching skills and ability to measure my progress and competence, I am well into Book 2 of "Adult Piano Adventures." Her firm, but encouraging approach during each lesson has been a positive step for me by offering both praise and criticism when due. More importantly, she keeps me focused in such a way that I actually like to practice! Also, her clear instruction and guidance regarding music theory adds a new dimension to this hobby and offers meaningful insight into the learning process. I strongly recommend Nikki L.for piano instruction for any age group and for any level!

Brenda Louise H. Sarasota, FL

About Brenda Louise

Consider the advantages of studying music privately! Here in my Sarasota home, the atmosphere is quieter than having a lesson in a public music business establishment. In a private atmosphere, you, the student and I, your teacher are better able to concentrate and hear one another. A current member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association,) I hold a B. S. in Music from Adelphi University located in Garden City, NY. I've been teaching piano and voice since 2002 to students 5 years old and older. Student recitals are held twice yearly at my home. Students learn music appreciation, music history, genres, artists, and composers from materials here in my music library. Voice students will rehearse periodically with a professional accompanist and perform with a professional ...
