Kelly H.

Marietta, GA

About Kelly

Kelly was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. She started taking flute lessons at the age of 12 under the instruction of Betsy Hudson-Traba, principal flutist of the Sarasota Orchestra. Throughout high school, she played in the Sarasota€™ youth orchestra program and was a winner of the Young Artist Competition. With a solid foundation in flute playing, she went on to study with Eva Amsler at the Florida State University where she earned her Bachelor of Music in flute performance. She had a lot of wonderful playing opportunities here and as an undergraduate was playing in the top orchestr
a. Kelly was a member of the “world renown” Marching CHIEFS, where she served as section leader to 50 plus flutes her senior year. One of the more unique ensembles she participated in was the Andean ensemble, Aconcagua, where she played the zampona (pan pipes) and the quena (Andean flute). Kelly decided to go abroad for graduate school earning her Master’s at a small conservatory in beautiful Lugano, Switzerland called the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana. She studied under Italian flutists, Mario Ancillotti, Stefano Parrino, and Giovanni Crola. She had many opportunities to pursue her love of traveling and work on her foreign language skills! After heading home to the States Kelly began her freelance career substituting in various orchestras in Florida including the Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet Orchestra, and the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. She now lives in Woodstock, Georgia and is working on building up a flute studio and freelancing. In addition to music, Kelly loves spending time with family, friends, and her adorable kitties. She also enjoys reading, the great outdoors, baking, and cleaning!

Mr. Jared Leach has been my instructor for almost a year and a half in Cartersville, GA. I'm an "older" student at 56-yrs who's been on/off with the instrument (guitar) over the years and Jared has met/exceeded my expectations for formal music instruction. Looking back over these past 18 months - Upon initial instruction, Jared does a fairly good skill assessment and works with the student ("me") to remediate their weaknesses and builds on their strengths AND (most importantly) provide a study/training routine that rewards the student while at the same time keep them out of their comfort zone and growing as a musician. His diverse musical interest and taste in many genera of music is impressive and rubs off on the student. His passion is contagious so one must be ready to work, have fun at it and - before you know it - you're making music !!!

*** Lesson Details ***
The goal of music lessons is not to just learn the notes and mechanics of an instrument, but to become a well-rounded MUSICIAN. With my lessons, we don't just go through a book page-by-page, rather, lessons are shaped around the musical tastes and interests of the student. Musical theory concepts are applied in actual songwriting and current popular songs. I accompany the students on various instruments, imitating a real performance situation. I teach all ages; beginners to advanced musicians.

Unlike a crowded music store with a cramped little room for lessons, my lessons are taught in a large, open, and well-lit home studio. There is an open waiting area where parents can listen as well. Parking is convenient on a cul-de-sac with a clear view into the teaching studio.

Darren W.

Marietta, GA

About Darren

Hello!
My name is Darren and I love music! Teaching is as fun as making music to me; helping someone get better, or helping them develop a comfortable understanding is as cathartic as "the real thing" in my opinion. I've been playing music since the beginning, and I feel now I have an understanding worth advertising for private, productive lessons! I primarily teach guitar. All genres proficiently, with jazz and rock being my strong-suits. But, I also teach rudimentary snare as well (marching), along with music theory! I attend KSU school of music for Jazz Performance and i feel this has got
ten me to a point where I feel confident you will learn something, whether it be a rigorous- intermediate lessons, or complete beginner lessons. I'm a very easy person to talk to, so don't hesitate to chat with me about what you wanna do!
Rock on!
