Creativity, skill and love of music are the key elements that I work to encourage in every student. Over the years my teaching has evolved and I find it gratifying to take people far beyond their own expectations while helping them achieve their goals. I believe everyone is musical and just needs the right key to tap into their own creativity.
For beginners it's important to study with an excellent teacher. Setting a solid and creative foundation makes all the difference!
For advanced players studying with a great artist takes you greater artistry.
Weekly private lessons focus on technical skills in either piano, voice (or a combination of both) and a strong musical foundation. Theory and Ear Training are fundamentals that are embedded in this approach to developing a complete musician and artist.
I have over 20 years experience working with students as young as 3 and old as 85! Often multiple generations in a family study together making for a rich family experience.
Performance opportunities: Recitals, Concerts Cabarets and Musicals are a part of developing into a musician and singer and enhancing a love of music that will last a lifetime!

Hello, my name is Richard. I love all things music, but my primary areas of focus are Piano and Music Literacy and Theory. My musical journey began when I was 6 years old, shortly after my grandparent's piano came to reside in my parents' home. I began piano lessons during that summer after first grade. By the time I was in junior high, my teacher thought I was ready for a more advanced teacher, and so I began taking lessons from someone who had traveled to Europe to study music. In college, I continued my musical journey, graduating in 2002 with a Bachelors in Church Music with a Piano Principal and again in 2004 with a Masters in the same. Since then I have been teaching at a K-12 school, teaching mostly computer-related subjects but also assisting in the music program, fine arts competitions, and special programs. Additionally, I have served as the music director (2005-2011) and lead pianist (2011-present) at my church.
