About Me

Musician/Songwriter/Performer

Poised, energized, and armed with unforgettable performance ability, Michelle G. is a firework in the artistic arena. Her training began at the young age of 3 with the violin, and a few years later received classes for piano and voice. Excelling in all three, Michelle developed a very passionate and dramatic personality that eventually led her to more dramatic genres such as opera and stage acting. Her aptitude to understand human emotions and relationships gives her a wide spectrum to play in as an actress. There is an organic flow to her interpretations both as an actress and musician that leads the audience to feel her emotional current. Her honest characterizations introduce deeper perspectives on what seems like the ordinary roles and storylines. Amongst the many other leads that she has played, her participation in roles like “Susanna” in The Marriage of Figaro, or “Donna Elvira” in Don Giovanni embody much vibrancy and integrity.
Through the development of her voice as a singer and actress, she has crossed over into other media such as voice over commercial work and vocals for pop/main stream music productions. She has recently participated as a vocalist and violinist in the albums of artists such as international jazz pop artist David Longoria, Latin pop singer Erick Bolivar, Grammy-nominated percussionist Souhail Kaspar, and American Idol’s Seysha. Over the last few years she has unraveled her musical skills as a songwriter/composer/arranger and has even had some small victories acquiring music placements on TV shows (NCIS, short film “Sumtin’ Like Dat”, The Dictator) for herself and some of her colleagues. Her inner brilliance is lighting a unique path before her, and she is bravely embracing each step forward in a promising creative career.

Education
Michelle completed her Associates of Arts for Music/Music Education at the age of 18, and got later graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami with a Bachelor's of Arts for Musical Theater and Music Business, as well as from Florida International University with a Master's of Music in Vocal Performance.

*** Lesson Details ***
I tailor my lessons to my student's needs, style, abilities, and goals. Learning is truly a fun and passionate adventure for me, and my enthusiasm has consistently been a contagious quality :) I love to challenge myself & my students to discover how immense their true potential is, and I create a safe and fun environment to explore such facets.

My curriculum is combination of solid tradition (Suzuki method for piano & violin, and Bel Canto technique for singing) interwoven with pop-culture, and modern influences. Within the first 3-6 months, my students will know the basic building blocks of music - which includes scales, arpeggios, triads, intervals, technique, and performance repertoire; and for my singers this will include proper breath technique, tone placement, support, very often increased vocal range (both high and low), and will feel significantly stronger vocally and more confident getting up to sing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Full size Keyboard, mics, pro tools, Violin (electric, acoustic, and Chinese Ehru)

*** Specialties ***
Specialties include:
- Audition technique and prep
- Vocal Technique
- Violin Pedagogy
- Acting Audition Technique

What to expect on your first lesson?

On your first lesson I will do a complete evaluation of your proficiency level on the instrument of choice. We will talk about what we will be working on for the first couple of weeks and how we will move forward at your own tempo. I like to tailor private lessons to each student individually as each of my student come from different backgrounds and at different levels.

How long before you see any progress?

It is my experience that in some cases people can notice progress during their first lesson. But if the student practice at least 45 minutes daily their instrument we should both, myself and the student, see progress within the first 2 to 3 lessons.

I have a very good balance in my lessons of nurturing the student, but also pushing the student to his or her highest potential. I always remain encouraging and supportive. I spend about a third of the lesson on technique work and I always encourage students to bring in their own material that we can work on as well. You will get excellent vocal and piano technique from me, but you will also learn to have fun and appreciate the ease and relaxation of singing and playing piano.

*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in musical theater singing, especially preparation for any auditions (singing or acting) for shows, college auditions, etc. Musical theater is my main passion, but I also focus a lot on pop music. I am especially experienced in introducing newbies to singing or piano.

Brigette has been dancing professionally since 2009 and has dedicated her life since a very young age to the art of dance. Due to her extensive dance training that began in her youth, Brigette speaks the language of dance and offers a wide range of dance education services for all skill levels of dance lovers, including flexibility training, modern dance class, and much more!

*** Lesson Details ***
All Ages: From the basics to assistance with the most advanced of dance techniques, I can offer you extensive coaching and insights to improving your dancing abilities.

If you are interesting in becoming more flexible, learning to stretch as dancers do, or learning to meditate in the most basic way, (or a combination of the those,) set up lessons with me and I will share my extensive knowledge with you, coaching you along the way.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Floors:
- Slight Bounce ~ It's important for a dance studio to have a sprung dance floor - this allows for proper shock absorption when jumping and dancing.
- No Texture ~ Most contemporary dance studios have a marly (smooth rubber plastic combination) flooring laid on top of the sprung floor foundation which makes for a softer dance floor and wears less on a dancer's knees when practicing modern dance (in comparison to a wooden dance floor).

Mirrors:
Mirrors come in handy for beginners to be able to keep an eye on themselves while watching and following the dance teacher during guided exercises.

Ballet Barre:
A ballet barre will be used in the training of ballet as it is a classic fundamental in the warm up and practice of classical, neoclassical, and contemporary ballet.

*** Travel Equipment ***
What you'll need for your in-home dance lessons with me:

1. Make room! Find an area of your house that provides you enough space to kick your legs, lie on the floor, and spin in circles with your arms open, without knocking over or hitting anything with your body. This way you can ensure there's enough room for us to dance and me to train you efficiently. If there are items in the way, this provides a potential safety hazard.

2. Check the floor quality. Wood floors are perfect because they provide a spring and shock absorption when jumping. Concrete and tile are not recommended for dancing. If you only have concrete and/or tile, I recommend that a rug be put down so that there is adequate cushion to prevent injury, and I can adjust my class for you so that we don't do specific movements that would be dangerous on a harder floor. Carpet is a bit too cushiony for dance, but can be worked with as well.

What you'll need for in-home stretching, meditation, or flexibility classes with me:

1. Make room! Find an area in your home where you and another person can lay on the floor with arms and legs extended. A good test for this is to see if two adults make "snow angels" simultaneously without hitting/touching each other or any other item in the room (including walls!).

2. A towel or yoga mat so that your face and body do not have to be in direct contact with the floor.
